The cure was deemed effective by Karl Friedrich Canstatt. According to the German physician, when he put the child's anus on the rump of a pigeon, the attack (seizure) stopped and the child was save but not the poor bird who died days after. http://www.thomas-morris.uk/pigeons-rump-cure/
