Blockchain by itself is not so bad but it is the use of PoW and PoS that are not environment friendly.... But there are many low cost alternatives coming up , so I guess the carbon emission problem would be solved in the future.

Yeah! I think they are just trying to get rid of bitcoin because of the "transparent" payments. Also because they are worried if their fiat currency might lose "value" if everyone switches to cryptos

Exactly! These critics are just using carbon emission as an excuse. Once that's out of the equation these critics would most likely just move the goal post.

Carbon emission is indeed true but that's because China, where the majority of Bitcoin miners is still very dependent on coal. If China uses other energy source, carbon emission would no longer be an issue. What I'm trying to say is that the "pollutant" from Bitcoin mining depends on fuel or energy source that the miners are using.
