1200 workers is a lot of downsizing.

Except that context matters. If you heard some day that 10,000 Libyan Teachers were laid off, you'll think that's a bad thing but there's at least that many teachers here who aren't working properly.

That's right, lyft has a reach in ride-booking and food delivery business.

As per the reports, the employees who work for the corporate are expected to be dismissed. This move may not affect any drivers who basically work as contractors to the company.

As you said, this all can be traced back to the pandemic time when companies hired workforce exceeding the required limit and now shows the result.
