NASA is launching Perseverance to Mars [Live: 30.07.2020, 11:50 UTC]
Mars season is upon us. The UAE already launched an orbiter to Mars on top of a Mitsubishi rocket. Now it's NASA's turn.
NASA Science Live: Perseverance Mars Rover & the Search for Ancient Life
NASA will launch a car-sized rover, called Perseverance, to Mars. The payload will fly on top of an ATLAS rocket by ULA in 541 configuration from Space Launch Complex 41, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
Cargo:
- Rover: Perseverance
- Small helicopter to explore autonomous flight on Mars
- Experiment to turn carbon-dioxide into oxygen
- System that prepares samples for a future return mission
- Payload mass: 1'050 kg
