I rather go for cement blocks because the thoughts of the mud blocks one day absorbing too much water and collapsing is scary. I'm not convinced even with the cement plastering.

You probably dont life in the drier areas of Africa /southern part of north America or south America.
Even though we got cob in England its if used correctly a great materiał
If plastered properly with sandcrete cement, there shouldn't be any fear of it absorbing water. My dad's house is built of clay and has been existing for years now in the one of the wettest regions of Nigeria.
Oh...that's cool. It's not common where I'm from
