RE: Plyscappers: Is wooden high-rise building the future of construction?

Practically speaking, I think wood would be a suitable building material for skyscrapers because of its organic and sustainable properties. However, these natural elements can only be used as cladding and other decorative elements in their architectural design NOT as the primary structural reinforcements or foundations which handle the seismic loads to counteract earthquakes, wind power, and other disastrous forces of nature.

On the other hand, if the skyscraper was designed like a giant Sequoia Tree that withstood centuries of wear and tear because of its solid wood characteristic, then maybe it's possible. Just my thoughts...

Definitely! Wood high-rise building still needs to have a structurally sound foundation such as piles and concrete slabs rather than using wood alone. In an engineering perspective, using wood as primary cladding as oppose to all solid concrete may help lessen the structural loads hence it is lightweight. As you pointed out, if we have the engineered woods mimics the giant Sequoia Tree. I must say it is feasible. !PIZZA
