Are Green Buildings turning out to be our future?

Hello everyone,
It's been so long since I wrote my last blog and feels good to be back. I would like to be a part of architecture community on hive so , here's my views with researched facts about the subject - Are Green Buildings turning out to be our future?

By the word "green building" most of you must have trees and plantation in mind. but this term is not restricted to just plantations. but the structure which is environment friendly and responsive from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition each stage or I may say process involves the procedure to be followed to make any building as green building.
Let me give you certain points which makes a building environment responsive-

  1. Central courtyard.
  2. Roof garden - Protects heat penetration, cuts down heat-island effect
  3. High performance glazing to bring in natural light while minimizing heat ingress.
  4. Usage of light glazing and vision glazing.
  5. Jali (Perforated) wall for bringing in natural light as well as ventilation.
  6. Energy saving system.
    and much more....

Choosing this subject was my priority as -
I believe, everyone should know about such things so that awareness can lead common man to ask their Architect or any professional technician to add such structures to improve the efficiency of their building .
Select materials using recycled components .Design for re-use and recycling. Controlling and reducing waste and packaging.
I would suggest if not all points but one can atleast Consider healthy lighting, colour and sound, Apply an integrated wiring system for lighting, power, security, fire alarm and audio facilities.
Design a safe and user-friendly space is what we work for. I have attached a picture of Godrej green building in India, which won an internationally acclaimed award by the United States Green Building Council as the most environmentally advanced building in the world.

I can mention so many points on how it is called a green building but don't want this post to be a wikipedia page, I just want to explain as much as possible in layman language so that everyone can understand and probably implement few of the points.
We can use 4-5 star rated air conditioners, refrigerators or any such equipment as they are more energy efficient.
enables building owners and managers to reduce energy consumption, improve the work environment, and reduce the environmental impacts of building operations. If the building can reduce operating costs, increase occupant productivity, and decrease health complaints, as well as be environmentally responsible, it is a green building. If green means happier tenants and healthier occupancy rates, more building owners would want to incorporate these technologies to gain a powerful market advantage and also on such a global warming rate and climate change we humans should take the responsibility and adopt such measures not only for the sake of environment, but also for us humans.

All the pictures are sourced from google. The second picture is a collage made by me through the researched images regarding the subject.

Welcome back, Indeed green buildings are the future. we should put some emphasis on such a construction and I appreciate the fact that you highlighted the things which an already constructed house can implement to maintain sustainable building.
Have a great day!

Hello @sahiba-rana! It's with pleasure to warmly welcome you to the Architecture+Design Community! And to answer your question, yes definitely, our new buildings must be designed to be "Green". These are not upcoming technologies but are current standards. In fact, they are already widely implemented in most if not all of our world's latest architecture. Only so would our built environments continue to thrive and be more friendly to Mother Nature. Our "Green Practices" or what we call "Sustainability" must not only be trends but, ideally must be humanity's way of life! I look forward to your future publications, and thank you for your inspiring contribution!

Greetings @sahiba-rana! We’re delighted to see you here, inside the Architecture+Design Community, so welcome aboard! Being a “Green Building” must ideally be the default requirement for every house, interior space, or skyscraper constructed if we truly want our planet to last for more generations. Thank you for your great post!
