The Metro Caracas - Guarenas - Guatire transportation system is an urban metro and suburban light rail project that, despite having been under "construction" for almost 10 years, remains unfinished.

El sistema de transporte Metro Caracas - Guarenas - Guatire es un proyecto de metro urbano y tren liviano suburbano que pese a que lleva casi 10 años en "construcción" sigue inconcluso.

La vida es un constante aprendizaje, todos aprendemos de todo y de todos. Aprendemos de lo que nos rodea. Nuestros sentidos están alertas el día entero para experimentar experiencias nuevas, de eso se trata la existencia: aprender a ser, aprender a conocer y aprender a convivir. La persona humana debe, con mucha humildad, aceptar que el conocimiento que posee es limitado, por esa razón, debemos estar dispuestos a aprender en cada momento de nuestra vida.
Life is a constant learning, we all learn from everything and everyone. We learn from what surrounds us. Our senses are alert all day to experience new experiences, that's what existence is all about: learning to be, learning to know and learning to live together. The human person must, with great humility, accept that the knowledge he possesses is limited, for that reason, we must be willing to learn at every moment of our lives.

When my children were one of our children, they taught us to be parents, today they continue to teach us. We, in turn, teach them everything we could, especially principles and values. Learning is holistic, it's global, it involves everything and it involves us all. On each family walk we feed back on knowledge to each other. Yesterday something interesting happened for us that I want to share with you, my friends in this wonderful community. It turns out that my wife and I went out with our twin sons for a walk, along the way we reminded them that when they were children, each walk was transformed into a pedagogical fact, all the moments and circumstances we took advantage of them to teach and learn. Before they learned from us and now we learn from them, today we teach each other... that's life!
Cuando mis hijos eran uno niños nos enseñaron a ser padres, hoy nos siguen enseñando. Nosotros, a su vez, les enseñamos todo lo que pudimos, especialmente, principios y valores. El aprendizaje es holístico, es global, involucra todo y nos involucra a todos. En cada paseo familiar nos retroalimentamos de conocimientos los unos a los otros. Ayer pasó algo interesante para nosotros que deseo compartir con ustedes, mis amigos de esta maravillosa comunidad. Resulta que mi esposa y yo salimos con nuestros hijos gemelos a dar un paseo, en el camino les recordamos que cuando ellos eran niños, cada paseo era transformado en un hecho pedagógico, todos los momentos y circunstancias las aprovechamos para enseñar y aprender. Antes ellos aprendieron de nosotros y ahora nosotros aprendemos de ellos, hoy nos enseñamos mutuamente... ¡Así es la vida!
Taking into consideration the above, we found ourselves on our walk with the construction showing the photographs, a situation that caught our attention because my twins are newly graduated civil engineers, so they took the opportunity to explain step by step what we were observing. I must confess that I know something about it; However, I don't interrupt them because I love listening to them, I'm proud of them, I admire them and I love them. My wife, who is un expressive, cannot hide the emotion by hearing the pedagogical explanation that our children give us regarding the issue of civil construction.
Tomando en consideración lo anterior, nos encontramos en nuestro paseo con la construcción que muestran las fotografías, situación que nos llamó la atención porque mis gemelos son Ingenieros civiles recién graduados, por lo que aprovecharon la oportunidad para explicarnos paso a paso lo que estábamos observando. Debo confesar que conozco algo del tema; sin embargo, no los interrumpo porque me encanta escucharlos, me siento orgulloso de ellos, los admiro y los amo. Mi esposa, que es poco expresiva no puede ocultar la emoción al escuchar la pedagógica explicación que nuestros hijos nos dan, relacionada al tema de construcción civil.

In the previous 3 photographs, a system of deep foundations is seen where piles are designed as the most suitable solution to support the superstructure, in addition, on the piloting was designed a large head that allows to join 4 piles, mooring beams and the central column. The heads are reinforced concrete structures, which allow to join the elements (Beams, piles and columns) and in turn take care of bringing the loads of the superstructure to the piles, this are the ones that transmit the loads to the ground. Another important fact that was pointed out to me is that at present, it is difficult to visualize works of this magnitude, in Venezuela, where a large number of piles are required, this is because no works are being carried out today and the few that already under construction are usually closed to the public until the day of its inauguration.
En las 3 fotografías anteriores, se aprecia un sistema de fundaciones profundas donde se diseñan pilotes como la solución más adecuada para soportar la superestructura, además, sobre el pilotaje se diseñó un cabezal de gran tamaño que permite unir 4 pilotes, vigas de riostra y la columna central de la estructura. Los cabezales son estructuras en concreto reforzado, que permiten unir los elementos (Vigas, pilotes y columnas) y a su vez se encargan de llevar las cargas de la superestructura a los pilotes, esto son los que transmiten las cargas al suelo. Otro dato importante que me señalaron, es que en la actualidad, es difícil visualizar obras en Venezuela de esta magnitud, donde se requiera un número grande de pilotes, esto se debe a que no se están haciendo obras hoy en día y las pocas que ya están en construcción suelen estar cerradas para el público hasta el día de su inauguración.
In this last photograph you can see, the construction of a retaining wall, screen type. These walls allow to project basements or subsoils during the construction process, its function is to contain the horizontal thrusts of the excavated terrain. Note the anchoring that the screen has attached to the slope, which allows it greater strength and resistance.
En esta última fotografía pueden apreciar, la construcción de un muro de contención, tipo pantalla atirantada. Estos muros permiten proyectar sótanos o subsuelos durante el proceso constructivo, su función es contener los empujes horizontales del terreno excavado. Nótese el anclaje que tiene la pantalla atirantada al talud, lo cual le permite mayor fortaleza y resistencia.

A lovely sunny day to bond and stroll with the family indeed! By "hitting 2 birds with 1 stone", you enjoy intimate moments with your loved ones as well as gain new learning experiences from the surrounding excavation work and from your twin sons who are civil engineers! Isn't that wonderful? It's certainly a great joy to witness the construction process at its initial phases - the assembly of the structural components for the site's critical foundations.
May I know what type of building function they're constructing in that area @marcosmilano71?
Good morning from Venezuela. Hello friend @storiesoferne. Thanks for your comment. Certainly the sunny day and the family are a blessing. That construction takes years and is just in its founding phase. I presume that they have changed the use several times because now we asked and one of the workers answered us that it was going to be destined for a Mega Department Store. A kind of Shopping Center belonging to a specific brand. Here in Venezuela there is a major brand economic aberration. While the official propaganda that is transmitted outside the country says that we are a thriving country, those of us who survive here know that it is not so. Venezuela is getting worse every day, increasing poverty ... but on the other hand, this type of construction appears that nobody knows where the resources for its construction come from. This is life here. When this happens, common people say: "the owner of this must be a plug" (people from the government who have a lot of money) in contrast to the poor people. Thanks for comment. Hello @marcosmilano71, I am now catching up on blog posts after arriving home from 7 days of indispensable travel to Manila. It's fascinating to see construction sites. For me, it's the beauty of project management, orchestrating the precision of each schedule. I admire project managers who make things happen and seeing the developments as time passes.
I'm sure this translates to something even more meaningful for your children. I could just imagine their enthusiasm discussing various elements on site.
