Hoy, mi esposa y yo vimos rastros de la otrora Venezuela; la misma que luchó con dignidad y orgullo libertario hasta conquistar su título de República; la que construyó una Nación libre e independiente. La Venezuela pujante, donde los valores: trabajo, estudió, respeto y solidaridad estaban fundamentados en la fe de su gente. La Venezuela de sólidos principios morales, éticos y espirituales heredados de los antepasados. La Venezuela en la que la mayoría de sus habitantes comprendieron que la responsabilidad, la puntualidad, el orden y la limpieza, la disciplina, el esfuerzo, el entusiasmo, la integridad, el respeto por el derecho propio y el de los demás, el respeto a las leyes... son algunas de las actitudes de las personas que hacen grande a los pueblos.

Today, my wife and I saw traces of the former Venezuela; the same one that fought with dignity and libertarian pride until conquering its title of Republic; the one that built a free and independent Nation. The thriving Venezuela, where the values: work, study, respect and solidarity were based on the faith of its people. The Venezuela of solid moral, ethical and spiritual principles inherited from the ancestors. The Venezuela in which most of its inhabitants understood that responsibility, punctuality, order and cleanliness, discipline, effort, enthusiasm, integrity, respect for their own rights and that of others, respect to the laws ... are some of the attitudes of people that make people great.

Entering the annals of local history we find that, on February 14, 1621, the town of Guarenas was founded as a town of indigenous doctrine, a name given by the founders, possibly in allusion to the word Huerena, comes from the language Caribbean which means "prairie" or "land of much grass" or "grassland." This is how the indigenous Chagaragotos called these lands, their land.

Adentrándonos en los anales de la historia local nos encontramos que, el 14 de febrero de 1621, se fundó como pueblo de doctrina indígena, el pueblo de Guarenas, nombre dado por los fundadores, posiblemente en alusión a la palabra Huerena, proviene de la lengua Caribe la cual tiene como significado "pradera" o "tierra de mucha hierba" o "herbazal." Así era como los indígenas chagaragotos llamaban a estas tierras, su tierra.

On the land that today occupies the Urbanization Nueva Casarapa there was a farm of the same name that aimed to exploit sugar cane. Fertile land bathed by the Guarenas River and Cloris Creek, today there is an industrial estate and housing complex of the same name of the stream. Hacienda Casarapa borders to the south with Hacienda San Pedro and the El Carmen sector, former rural areas of the guarenera town and border with the Municipality of Zamora. By the way, it is believed that Hacienda San Pedro was possibly the scene of the genesis of the popular Parranda de San Pedro, which is celebrated in both municipalities (but this is another story that I have already told you)

En los terrenos que hoy ocupa la Urbanización Nueva Casarapa existió una hacienda homónima la cual tenía como objetivo la explotación de la caña de azúcar. Terrenos fértiles bañados por el río Guarenas y la quebrada, Cloris, hoy existe una una zona industrial y complejo habitacional homónimo de la quebrada. La Hacienda Casarapa linda por el Sur con la Hacienda San Pedro y el sector El Carmen, antiguas zonas rurales de la localidad guarenera y frontera con el Municipio Zamora. Por cierto se cree que en la Hacienda San Pedro fue, posiblemente, el escenario génesis de la popular Parranda de San Pedro, que se celebra en ambos municipios (pero esta es otra historia que ya he contado)

The Casarapa estate was one of the most prosperous in the country and was operational until the late 1960s. Already in the nineties, The Urbanization Nueva Casarapa was built on the land that were part of the old Hacienda Casarapa, located approximately 30 minutes from Caracas, capital of Venezuela.

La hacienda Casarapa fue una de las más prósperas del País y estuvo operativa hasta finales de los años sesenta. Ya en la década de los años noventa, se construyó La Urbanización Nueva Casarapa en los terreno que formaban parte de la antigua Hacienda Casarapa, situada aproximadamente a 30 minutos de Caracas, capital de Venezuela.

Now my answer: I was born in this territory so I know part of its geography and its history; I am also a history teacher and I have always liked subjects related to the past. I grew up near a sugarcane mill, I interacted many times with the workers of the sugar cane planks (that's what they say to plantations). My uncle Rafael and my grandfather worked as day laborers, they were farmers. The truth is that I have a lot of affinity with that bucolic and beautiful story. However, the one I present in this publication did not know him. EUREKA! It was a pleasant surprise for us to discover that hidden past. The walls, the houses that are still preserved despite government neglect, the metal structure as an engineering design of yesteryear and that even today, in many places, is used to process sugar cane is great, very exciting.

My family and I live very close to the old sugar cane mill that is now abandoned, but we had never dared to investigate beyond what is seen from the outside and the surroundings because it is very neglected, and the area is a bit dangerous because sometimes crimes have occurred; however, we decided to venture out and managed to discover those ruins; the house that looks better is because there are people who take care of it, clean it frequently and watch over it; We also discovered that there is a small community that lives in the area, such as Mrs. Echenique, who we met on the way, and she gave us some important information regarding her family and the history of the place. Here in Guarenas there are other places that commemorate our past but are more exposed and even have preserved them and give it constant maintenance because they are on the public thoroughfare of the city like the one you will see in the photograph belonging to the Trapichito de Guarenas Urbanization. Hola amigo @storiesoferne. Saludos e infinitas bendiciones desde Venezuela. Usted me pregunta, cito: ¿Cómo te sentiste cuando caminaste por estas ruinas antiguas @marcosmilano71 ?, fin de la ciata. Excelente pregunta. Gracias. Ahora mi respuesta: Soy nacido en este territorio por lo que conozco parte de su geografía y de su historia; además soy profesor de historia y siempre me ha gustado los temas que se relacionan con el pasado. Yo me crié cerca de un trapiche de caña, interactúe muchas veces con los obreros de los tablones (así se les dice a las plantaciones) de caña de azúcar. Mi tío Rafael y mi abuelo trabajaron de jornaleros, ellos eran campesinos. Lo cierto es que tengo mucha afinidad con esa bucólica y hermosa historia. Sin embargo, el que presento en esta publicación no lo conocía. ¡EUREKA! una agradable sorpresa fue para nosotros descubrir ese pasado oculto. Las paredes, las casas que todavía se conservan pese al descuido gubernamental, la estructura metálica como diseño de la ingeniería de antaño y que aún hoy, en muchas partes, se utiliza para procesar la caña de azúcar es genial, muy emocionante.

Mi familia y yo vivimos muy cerca del antiguo trapiche de caña de azúcar que hoy está abandonado, pero nunca nos habíamos atrevido a investigar más allá de lo que se ve por fuera y los alrededores porque está muy descuidado, además la zona es un poco peligrosa porque a veces han ocurrido delitos; sin embargo, decidimos aventurarnos y logramos descubrir esas ruinas; la casa que se ve mejor es porque hay personas que la cuidan, la limpian con frecuencia y la vigilan; además descubrimos que existe una pequeña comunidad que vive en el sector como es el caso de la Señora Echenique que nos encontramos en el camino y nos dio alguna información importante respecto a su familia y la historia del lugar. Aquí en Guarenas existen otros lugares que rememoran nuestro pasado pero están más expuestos e inclusos los han conservado y le dan mantenimiento constante porque están en la vía pública de la ciudad como el que verá en la fotografía perteneciente a la Urbanización Trapichito de Guarenas. It makes one wonder how the glory days and life were like in the sugar cane farm and the old sugar mill. The old empty chapel looks slightly eerie however, the property seems to have so much potential. I just hope the sugar tower is restored and retained as well as the original structures in consideration of future developments.

Unfortunately these spaces were expropriated and passed into the hands of the Municipality and from that moment the neglect of these historical monuments began. It is true what you mention in your comment, just imagining the productive life of these memories is exciting but today it is nostalgic to see the state of abandonment in which the trace of the past is. Before this they had private hands and they kept every corner beautiful, this area was very pleasant. The construction of the Urbanization preserved the memories but more than 20 years have passed and now, due to government oversight, they have begun to deteriorate. The neighbors are making a great effort to maintain and take care of it but the effort is titanic. Investment is required here and that is what the Municipality has denied. Greetings and blessings.

Lamentablemente estos espacios fueron expropiados y pasaron a manos del Municipio y desde ese momento comenzó el descuido a estos monumentos históricos. Es cierto lo que mencionas en tu comentario, sólo imaginar la vida productiva de estos recuerdos emociona pero hoy da nostalgia al ver el estado de abandono en el que está el rastro del pasado. Antes esto lo tenían manos privadas y conservaban bonito cada rincón, esta zona era muy agradable. La construcción de la Urbanización conservó los recuerdos pero ya han pasado mas de 20 años y ahora, por el descuido gubernamental han comenzado a deteriorarse. Los vecinos estamos haciendo gran esfuerzo por mantener y cuidar pero el esfuerzo es titánico. Aquí se requiere inversión y es eso lo que el Municipio ha negado. Saludos y bendiciones.
