RE: Designing houses to meet future demands

That was an interesting post. I have a small comment with respect to this:

The figure about the area of habitable lands above might look huge, however, it speaks of one fundamental thing - land is not infinite. It might not happen any time soon but going by the rate at which land is being put to use, the human population might run out of land to be used in the nearest future.

There are actually two effects here, the increase of human population but also the decrease of habitable lands due to climate change (this has already started by the way, some region of the world having been recently tagged as inhabitable). Therefore, “soon” may actually be sooner than expected…

Finally, let’s note that my vision is very similar to this:

Hence, the future average family may not need more than a 3 to 4 bedroom apartment - one room for the couple and one for each kid with the 4th room being for potential family friends that come visiting

Although in my case I would add the office room, so that when I work from home I have a place to calmly do things. Moreover, it is important to add to the house a nice garden for barbecues and drinks with friends ^^

Thanks for the insightful comment. If other problems with land usage is actually put into perspective along with the factors stated above, you are absolutely right that the time may be sooner than anticipated.

Of course, a standard 3 br should have other details depending on taste. A mini office or study room etc. And yea, I love me a little garden to enjoy some greenery
