Very naively, I was about to say that mud block should be more penetrable to bullets. But then after reading your post I remembered everything, and in particular the wall that I built at the end of 2021 with concrete blocks. At that time we were using hammers and our hands to break the concrete block and give them the shape we wanted them to take. If we can do this with our hands, bullets... well...
Short summary: I should not be so naive :D
Here, where I live (Western/central France), most houses are actually built with concrete blocks. And this is a good choice as we are living in a place with a very humid soil and weather.

Apart from my experience during the communal war, there have been instances of stray bullets killing people in their houses all over the country. Concrete block without holes remains the best, but comes ar a cost. One just needs to weigh their options, and their pockets :)
I agree, the full blocks are better with this respect, but they are so much more expensive...
Also, a lot less bullets flying around ...
This is of course true, which is why I only focused on the humidity side of the discussion ;)
