A cordial greeting to the entire architecture and design community, also pay tribute to the @aplusd and @ocd team for impeccable work and motivation to all of us.

Today I bring you a post about a remodeling of the main facade of a house.

This facade sought to modernize the house with a rethinking of criteria and create a formal continuity. So I will start the explanation. Below the images you will get a render in Revit of the previous facade, so you can compare the change made. On the left side, that glass wall was removed, a wall was placed and in this way giving privacy from the street to the social area of the house, which would ventilate laterally. On the right side which is a room with a bathroom next to it, the bathroom was created ventilation with a window that opens and the rest a diffuse glass wall, which allows the entry of lighting and air but at the same time there is no visual available outside, to this a metal lattice was added to give more privacy to this interior space. At the same time, the exterior interior design of the house was rethought.

On the façade, a continuity game was designed at a formal level to give a greater architectural value to this house, taking into account that it was low in cost and not fall into expensive whims. The materials were also rethought, such as adding a slab in the shape and texture of stone, porcelain that appears to be wood, typical rustic bricks, other pillars to make a compositional rhythm with the column that supports the overhang, a design in the format of the glass in the upper room with a glass balcony that gives us lightness.

These renders retouched in photoshop, I wanted to do them without sunlight, so that in this way at the same time it would require me to propose a good artificial lighting for the house.

As I mentioned, the render of the state of the previous facade was done with Revit, the others were modeled with sketchup and Vray. Last down here in the images you can see the 3d modeling of the exploded view of the elements added in this design.

Bioclimatic architecture:

It should be noted that in this new facade approach, I use bioclimatic characteristics to minimize the solar impact, before entering this topic, it should be mentioned that being a portfolio project it does not have a context in which it can have an orientation with respect to the sun and the winds, but despite them I wanted to create a scene ... taking into account that in the tropics we must protect ourselves from the sun and try as much as possible to maintain a microclimate of our appropriate spaces, closing the glass facade also generates security in relation to in the sun, and the overhang of the room creates a functional parasol with a protruding balcony, while below it gives shade to the access and the parking lot. The stone cladding used also helps retain heat and does not allow the walls to be directly exposed. And in this way by speculating that the sun is oriented on this facade, you can protect yourself from its impact.

Criteria of life, architecture and nature

Leaving the topic of bioclimatic, I also find it interesting to mention that on the facade I propose a gesture in which at the same time it is a metaphor of enveloping nature, by this I mean the upper floor on the right side, that continuous ready that I believe From the top, it folds and continues to the left side of the façade where it ends in a supporting wall of this, this gesture surrounds a tree, in which I apply this relationship of architecture with its neighboring nature.

Type of job:

Something peculiar, that this project was for an engineer, with the purpose of her later to architecture, with a conventional form and then she could develop the structural, sanitary and electrical calculation of this building and propose it as a portfolio to her clients. As a rookie I suppose, the budget was low and therefore they see the development of a single facade.

The importance of facades ...

Why did I make the main facade and my effort with a post about this?
The facades are super important in architecture, without the presentation image of the building, a preamble of sensations, status, personality and architecture. It is like our skin full of features and reliefs, so we recognize each other, the same happens with the facade, it is the first image, the first perceptual impact of architecture on its environment, therefore, it is good and recommended that it has a singular identity, but it is much better if it has the identity and characteristics of the user who is going to inhabit the space.

And end! I hope you like it and do not forget to leave your comment on what you think or what your perception was regarding this small facade intervention. Thanks!

Gracias!
