Why is it important to set small goals in order to calm our anxiety?

Many of us enter into an anxiety that is the product of a long wait, however when we set goals we do not take into account those small objectives that are very important if we take them into account to calm the anxiety generated.

If we take into account that there is a very important factor to evaluate in relation to what is causing anxiety, this element is to be able to confront what worries us, having to confront what worries us generates fear and creates an outcome of anxiety.

The problem of this fear generated by facing our most common activities and problems is that they accumulate, since we always avoid them until the situation explodes generating undesirable symptoms of anxiety.

Already understood the fact causing our anxieties is conducive to raise the strategies to calm these anxieties a little, one of the strategies that I mentioned earlier in the introduction of this post is to put small goals to meet, now, perhaps we wonder:

How does the application of setting small goals influence the calming of anxiety?

The first thing we have to consider is that the accomplishment of some tasks intimidate us and make them accumulate and generate that unwanted anxiety in us, the fulfillment of small objectives to deal with such activities will make us lose that fear that limits us.

If there is an activity that intimidates us, either by how long or complex it is, most certainly if we subdivide it into smaller tasks, surely we will be fulfilling them all, and when we least expect it, the sum of all the small objectives raised will make us fulfill the general task described.

Hello @sandracarrascal!

Having tiny goals that could get accomplished one-by-one in order to achieve one big goal is a smart way to make it happen and at the same time get over the anxiety that limits us from doing so.

Thanks for sharing!
