MOVIES: Operation Avalanche

I rarely recommend movies, but here is an exception. Before we start with the explanation, you can see my movie taste from this old post: Q27 — Name Two Movies That Really Changed Your Life (Hopefully For The Better) Despite the title, there are more than two movies there, so don’t worry…

Alongside those movies in the post, I have to mention another absolute classic: “The Godfather”, which explores and explains, through full trilogy, the social foundations of the Centralized Hierarchical Political Matrix creation. But this evening we have a different kind of movie.

This evening, we have a faux-documentary about the Apollo 11 Moon landing conspiracy.

In 1967, during the height of the Cold War, two young CIA agents (Matt Johnson and Owen Williams) go undercover at NASA to investigate a possible Russian mole. In disguise as documentary filmmakers, they tap phones and break into offices while purporting to learn more about the Apollo project. But when they end up uncovering a shocking NASA secret — and a major government cover-up — they decide to embark on a new mission that may put their own lives at risk.

As you may remember from this post, I do not believe that any living being has ever went though Van Allen Belts… any more. As a kid, I was watching the Apollo 11 mission and was amazed. And then believed long after, on the words of an engineer who said: “If they were not on the Moon, Soviets would disclose it!” But since I have saw this BBC produced documentary…

What Happened On the Moon?

…I didn’t find any reasonable explanations for a number of questions raised in it.

So, where do “Operation Avalanche”, a faux-documentary, fits in this story? First, I have to say that it is a fascinating movie in itself – reconstruction of the time and places, using unique “documentary” workflow that you can see Matt Johnson (director), Curt Lobb (editor), and Matthew Miller (producer) are explaining in this video:

You can see they are all young and still studying filmmaking, and they did not have a large budget, but they did have Adobe support in creating a fascinating “time machine” footage. The result is worth seeing regardless of your belief or conviction about the Moon missions. You can probably for some time see the full movie at this link

You can enjoy the movie without any attempts to ‘debunk’ their story. It is a fiction, and ‘debunking’ would be missing the point. But it is not completely irrelevant. The closest connection with the “Moon Conspiracy” theory, would be this one: The movie is pretty convincingly showing how easy it would be to construct fake Moon landing, leaving the majority of people directly involved in the ‘mission’ without any knowledge of their participation in a fraud.

Let’s now return to the “What Happened On the Moon?” movie. That one, a real documentary with the open questions, you can see here, but I have to warn you – it is almost four hours long!
