Tesla Model 3 is April's best-selling new car in UK (Autocar)
- Latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling car in the UK in April, accounting for 15% of all new car sales which dropped 97% due to COVID-19.
BYD plans to launch in Europe in 2020 (electrive)
- Chinese manufacturer BYD – the largest Chinese and globally the second largest EV maker after Tesla – plans to start selling EVs in Europe in 2020 and has unsurprisingly chosen Norway as its entry market.
London trial finds electric vans viable alternative to diesel (electrive)
- The data of a two and a half year pilot project to test the use of electric delivery vans in London traffic show that the tested vans are a competitive and environmentally friendly alternative to diesel vans in terms of operational performance, costs, vehicle emissions and load on the electricity grid.
Building a sustainable EV battery supply chain: new report (Charged)
- The Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE) and the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) will release a full report addressing the questions around the sustainability of batteries, from mining impacts to vehicle carbon emissions, later this year.
- The research initiative is focused on identifying strategies to improve sustainability and governance across the EV battery supply chain. Their background brief (which can be found here) addresses a few key questions in the meantime.

I wonder how long will it take before everyone on planet earth will get rid of their petrol/diesel cars.
