According to new research, now astronauts will be able to get drinking water on the surface of the moon

The new discovery raises the possibility that astronauts on future space missions will find a drink or even fuel on the surface of the moon to refresh themselves.

According to the AFP news agency, the moon was considered extremely dry for almost a decade, but now it has been found that there are traces of water in the form of ice on our nearest neighboring planet.

The results of the study, published in the journal ‘Nature Astronomy’, suggest that water may have spread over a larger area on the moon's surface. For the first time, it has been confirmed that water is present in those parts of the moon that are illuminated by the sun and are relatively easy to access.

Obtaining this water could give access to drinking water for astronauts to the moon and beyond. Rocket fuel can also be made from hydrogen derived from these water molecules. The US space agency NASA is particularly interested in this as it plans to launch a manned mission to the moon in 2024 and stay longer there by the end of the current decade to further travel to Mars.

Casey Honeyball, lead author of research at the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, said new research could help to clearly trace molecular water in bright parts of the moon's sun. He is doing a postdoctoral fellowship at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. He told that if we find plenty of water in some places on the moon, then we can use it in human research.

Earlier research had found traces of water on the moon's bright surface, but it was not possible to distinguish between their water and hydroxyl. A hydroxyl is a molecule made up of one atom of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. One molecule of water is made up of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen.

The researchers took a closer look at data collected by the Infrared Astronomy Airborne Telescope to find traces of water on the moon that had not been taken before. During the survey, they found a concentration of water of one to four hundred parts per million in a crater called Kelvis on the surface of the moon. The pit in which the water was identified is one of the pits that can be seen from the ground.

During a press conference at NASA, Dr. Honeyball said that one cubic meter of the moon's soil contains about 12 ounces (350 ml) of bottled water. He said that there are no pools of water on the moon but scattered molecules which do not form water in the form of ice or liquid. Researchers believe that these molecules were created by moon winds or small meteors that may have been trapped in glass beads or grains on the surface of the moon and protected from harsh atmospheres.

In another study, researchers looked at the moon's sermon parts where ice was found in pits where sunlight did not reach. In 2009, NASA also found water crystals in a deep hole in the Moon surface. The new study found that microbe’s holes contain a small amount of ice in the tens of millions.

Paul Hahn, lead author of the study at the Department of Astrophysics at the University of Olmert, said: "If you see the moon somewhere near its sermons, it will push you to a 'galaxy' of shadows on the surface. They are smaller than a coin and each shade will be very cold, cold enough to snow here.
