TECHNOLOGY// bio-inspired algorithms in traffic light route control

Greetings, my dear members of the community of @project.hope, may the present delivery serve to continue advancing in the contents associated with the technological advances that have emerged as a result of the evolutionary process of societies and that have allowed better quality of life of the human species.

Through the following lines of writing, we will address the issue of bio-inspired algorithms, understood as those computational systems inspired by the logic of biological systems, so that they are suitable for information processing and problem solving, in other words, they have a certain autonomy that allows them to replicate the way of thinking of living species.

Technology consists of certain parameters or techniques that are unified and form a whole, among which are computing based on numbers and symbols, fuzzy logic and evolutionary computing, respectively. Therefore, we will make a descriptive tour through the most complex processes.

In this sense, the fuzzy logic, is based on the implementation of data that respond to certain criteria that differ or not from an absolute truth and have been highlighted as variables within hardware, for its part, the evolutionary computing, allows the standardization of the orders in the working mechanism, this is responsible for solving problems, recognize, search and optimize the data during the process.

Another variable that should be taken into account are the semantic or neural networks, which replicate the flow of information in our brain and allow the orders to be fulfilled at an appropriate speed within the system, this mechanism, gives some autonomy to the process since it allows them to learn and adapt to situations of everyday life of people.

Without a doubt, it is a technology that has a variety of uses, among which are its technological implementation in the traffic light networks of large cities, which will allow the behavior of traffic lights to be adapted to the rhythms of life of society. The aim is to leave behind the accumulation of cars and therefore the excessive production of polluting gases such as carbon monoxide and dioxide, which are to some extent responsible for acid rain and the greenhouse effect.

The main idea behind this process is to adapt the cycles or times of the traffic lights in an automated way, since the process allows to determine in real time the flow of cars according to the hours of the day which would reduce the waiting time and fuel consumption.

Similarly, the system has been designed to be self-adapted to the requirements of the areas where they are installed, principles that can be achieved through the use of genetic algorithms, which are responsible for choosing the most timely and efficient working mechanism according to the historical developments of the city.

Undoubtedly, technological advances are increasingly futuristic which forces us to think in times where computer systems will be those that govern the evolution of societies, therefore, I invite you to leave your comment and tell us your perspectives on the technological lines described above.
