Well, in addition to this explanation, to make it easier to understand how this works, I want to compare it to something that is already quite well known, pregnancy tests. These tests are a kind of large thermometer, which when in contact with the urine of the woman who is undergoing the test, is generated in a small screen that has at one end the change of color or marked two small green or blue stripes, that is indicative of a positive (surprise ha, ha, ha) ... What really happens is that this small device has a substance that reacts with a hormone that only occurs when the woman is pregnant, and is eliminated by the urine. This hormone is called Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin, when this is the case, the substance contained in the device changes color. Just like that, a reaction only to that specific substance.
Having said that, it is much easier to understand what I will explain below regarding the diagnosis of CoronaVirus.

DETECTR

That is the name given to this new diagnostic mechanism that is awaiting FDA approval for production and subsequent mass use.
It allows to process not one, but several tests at the same time, and to have results in 30 to 45 minutes, not hours, as the tests used by the FDA and the WHO.

It uses a genetic technology that has several decades of development, called CRISPR¹.
This technique (CRISPR), is basically a tool that cuts and edits DNA. In this particular case, it is called CRISPR-Cas12 system, and recognizes the specific genetic fractions of SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus) and cuts them to reveal a fluorescent molecule, which indicates the presence of the virus.

The test is very easy to carry out, it does not require in-depth knowledge of the subject. First we proceed to take the sample from the nose or throat, passing a swab through the surface, this sample is placed in a test tube with a liquid solution, which contains a protein that works in conjunction with CRISPR, and we undertake the search for viral DNA, cutting and editing, and if found, produces a reaction that causes the color of the dipstick to change ... and ready, diagnosis made.

Personal note: It seems absurd that at this point in the century and with so much technological advancement, a pandemic is attacking us in such a way.
I hope that the great laboratories are equally willing to find a rapid treatment, and that they see beyond the profit motive that the cure is the priority... I just hope.

I'm given to technology, and this particular discovery is a breakthrough, of course, but the intention beyond the rapid diagnosis is the mass sale of this, generate profit, and I'm not saying that this evil generate income, but, the logic of humanity tells me that the cure and the vaccine should be the priority.
