Blockchain technology for collecting government fines

Two days back I heard in the news that our police department has collected a huge amount of money from the people who violated lockdown rules. This is something that can be a great revenue for the government. There is a small problem with our government. They don't impose any strict rules to the public. They relax the rules here and there making it comfortable for some group of people alone. In other places, it is a good opportunity for the government to collect fines from the public for violating rules.

The government is also not very transparent about the money they collected from the individuals. They give a rough value to the media but we will never know if that was the real value or not. I was thinking if blockchain technology could solve this problem. I usually think what are all the things that can be a good use case for the technology. We keep saying that blockchain and decentralization are the future but we don't know clearly as to where and all we can use this technology.

After hearing this news, I was thinking it can be a great use case for the Blockchain technology to be there. Let's assume the government implements a cryptocurrency and the police department and other departments where a violation fine or fees is collected can be collected in the form of cryptocurrency. People can probably pay the fine in rupees if they are not familiar with cryptocurrency and the government can convert the collection of the fee to the respective cryptocurrency. This will enable a market for that particular coin and transactions will enable people to invest in that crypto asset.

There are a few advantages that this can bring. The first thing is that the data about the collection of fine will be available to the public. Every individual will be able to know how much fees were collected by the government from an individual. The next best thing is that it can be decentralized where anyone can trade or invest in that cryptocurrency and that can be a good source of revenue for the government as well.

Of course, this is just a high-level idea that came to my mind for a good use case of Blockchain technology but it can definitely improvised in better ways. I'm sure if experts sit together and discuss this topic, they can easily come up with a better solution that can act as a great use case for the data storage with the help of blockchain technology.
