My visit to the Bougainvillea Garden, a colorful and beautiful space at the entrance to the city (Eng - Esp)
Hello fellow nature lovers! It's a pleasure to greet you and wish you a happy weekend. This time, I'm sharing my visit to a beautiful Trinitaria Bougainvillea garden located on Avenida Universidad at the intersection with the interchange leading to the Antonio José de Sucre Highway. I've driven along this road many times, but I hadn't had the chance to stop and admire the garden. Last week, while running errands in the area, I decided to make a stop at this striking garden. I'd wanted to visit it for a while, but it hadn't been possible, so this was the perfect opportunity to explore the garden and see its beautiful and colorful flowers up close.
The garden is located on a large plot of land, where two important sculptures of the city stand. It's situated in the center of the avenue (an island). My visit was in the afternoon, and I enjoyed seeing these bougainvillea specimens, whose varied colors adorn and beautify the entrance to the city.
Hola amigos amantes de la naturaleza es un placer saludarles deseando que tengan un feliz fin de semana, en esta ocasión les comparto mi visita a un hermoso jardín de Trinitarias Bugambilia, ubicado en la avenida Universidad con intersección del distribuidor que conduce a la autopista Antonio José de Sucre, en muchas oportunidades he pasado por esta artería víal, pero no había tenido la oportunidad de detenerme a observar el jardín, la semana pasada mientras realizaba varias diligencias por esta zona, decidí hacer una parada en este llamativo jardín, desde hace tiempo quería visitarlo pero no había sido posible, así que este el momento perfecto para conocer el jardín y ver de cerca sus hermosas y coloridas flores.
El jardín se localiza en un amplio terreno, donde se encuentran dos importantes esculturas de la ciudad, es un espacio ubicado en el centro de la avenida (isla), mi visita fue en horas de la tarde y me gustó ver estos estos ejemplares de Trinitaria, que con su variados colores adornan y embellecen la entrada de la ciudad.
In addition to the bougainvillea, there are other trees such as Neem, Flamboyant, and Ceiba, among others. They are still small but also contribute to the beauty of this space. I was struck by the presence of handcrafted decorations made with rocks, including several hearts located in different parts of the grounds. From here, we have a partial view of the highway, the mountain, and the variety of trees and shrubs that complement this striking garden. The planters are mostly formed by circles made of rocks to demarcate the space for the trees. The grounds look clean and moist, and some areas have grass. Near the walkways that lead to the avenue and the grounds, there are several bougainvillea plants that stand out for their blooms.
Moving towards the center of the grounds, you can see several plants. The colors of their flowers are very striking, ranging from fuchsia and reddish tones to light orange. One of the most common is the fuchsia flower, and it's one of my favorites. Its color is definitely beautiful and stands out in the space. In another view, we see the orange-reddish flowers. This plant is very peculiar because of the beautiful colors its flowers can have. The one I've seen most often is purple, however, in this garden, curiously, that color isn't present. Instead, fuchsia, orange, and reddish flowers are distributed throughout the grounds.
Además de las Bugambilias, hay otros árboles como el Neem, el Flamboyán y la Ceiba, entre otros. Aún son pequeños, pero también contribuyen a la belleza de este espacio. Me llamó la atención la presencia de decoraciones artesanales hechas con piedras, incluyendo varios corazones ubicados en diferentes partes del jardín. Desde aquí, se aprecia una vista parcial de la carretera, la montaña y la variedad de árboles y arbustos que complementan este impresionante jardín. Las jardineras están formadas principalmente por círculos de piedras que delimitan el espacio para los árboles. El suelo luce limpio y húmedo, y algunas áreas tienen césped. Cerca de los senderos que conducen a la avenida y al jardín, hay varias Bugambilias que destacan por sus flores.
Avanzando hacia el centro del jardín, se pueden observar diversas plantas. Los colores de sus flores son muy llamativos, desde tonos fucsia y rojizos hasta naranja claro. Una de las más comunes es la flor fucsia, y es una de mis favoritas. Su color es sin duda hermoso y resalta en el espacio. En otra perspectiva, vemos las flores de color naranja rojizo. Esta planta es muy peculiar por la belleza de sus flores. La que más he visto es la morada; sin embargo, curiosamente, en este jardín no se encuentra ese color. En cambio, flores fucsia, naranja y rojiza se distribuyen por todo el terreno.
Continuing my tour of this beautiful garden, I found a lovely fuchsia bougainvillea, and in front of it, a light orange one. Then came several other colors: orange, light orange, fuchsia, and a lighter shade, creating a beautiful landscape by combining various color tones.
Next, we have the light orange or neon specimens. This color is also very pretty and contrasts beautifully with the fuchsia ones. The last one is an orange flower that catches the eye because it appears iridescent; it looks orange, and in some cases, pink. According to one of the gardeners, this phenomenon is due to the bioluminescence of these plants.
Bougainvilleas are among the most widely used plants for beautifying gardens, public spaces, and landscaping, given their ability to adapt to warm climates. One of their great advantages is that they bloom year-round. In addition to being used as ornamentals, they also have medicinal properties, among which we can mention:
Treating conditions such as; Cough, Flu, Wound healing, Diarrhea and dysentery,
Nausea and stomach pain, Pimples and blackheads, Reducing the risk of cancer.
In addition, it is also attributed with other benefits, such as reducing cholesterol and triglycerides, treating stomach ulcers, preventing and improving diabetes, as well as antibacterial, antioxidant, and antifertility properties.
However, more scientific evidence in humans is needed to confirm these benefits, as current studies are very limited.
An important point about this beautiful plant is that it is not actually its flowers that stand out, but its striking bracts that surround the true flowers, which are generally white and small.
Continuando en el recorrido por este hermoso jardín, encontré una linda Bugambilia de color fucsia y al frente de ella una de color naranja claro, a continuación varios colores; naranja, naranja claro, fucsia y un tono más claro que crean un hermoso paisaje combinando diversos tonos de colores.
Luego tenemos los ejemplares de color naranja claro o neón, este color también es muy bonito y contrasta con las de color fucsia, la última corresponde a una de las flores color naranja y llama la atención porque parece tornasol, se ve de color naranja y en algunos casos se ve de color rosado, según la explicación de uno de los jardineros este fenómeno se debe a la luminiscencia en estas plantas.
Las Bugambilias, constituyen una de las plantas más utilizadas para embellecer jardines, espacios públicos y en el paisajismo dada su capacidad de adaptarse a los climas cálidos y una de sus grandes ventajas es que florece durante todo el año, además de ser usado como ornato también tiene propiedades medicinales, entre las cuales se pueden mencionar:
Se utiliza para tratar afecciones como la tos, la gripe, la cicatrización de heridas, la diarrea y la disentería, las náuseas y el dolor de estómago, el acné y los puntos negros, y para reducir el riesgo de cáncer.
Además, se le atribuyen otros beneficios, como la reducción del colesterol y los triglicéridos, el tratamiento de las úlceras estomacales, la prevención y la mejora de la diabetes, así como propiedades antibacterianas, antioxidantes y anticonceptivas.
Sin embargo, se necesita más evidencia científica en humanos para confirmar estos beneficios, ya que los estudios actuales son muy limitados.
Un punto importante en esta hermosa planta, es que en realidad no destacan sus flores, sino sus llamativas brácteas que envuelven a las verdaderas flores, que son generalmente de color blanco y pequeñas.

Conozco muy bien ese lugar, que queda saliendo de Cumaná para agarrar la carretera de Puerto La Cruz. Es un sitio hermoso, lástima que le quede algo distante a los habitantes de la zona para que puedan caminar en ese espacio y así estrechar lazos afectivos con la naturaleza. Excelentes fotos.
