My journey along Carúpano Avenue, in the Caigüire sector (Eng - Esp)
Continuing my tour of the area, I’d like to share a look at several spots located along the central strip of the avenue. This area is characterized by its greenery and natural settings—ideal for resting—as well as benches traditionally crafted from tree trunks. The view here is lovely, offering a sight of Caigüire Hill, also known as "Pan de Azúcar" (Sugarloaf). According to a local resident, this hill was once submerged by the sea; in fact, seashells have been found there, indicating the area was once underwater.
While walking with my son, we spotted a beautiful black bird perched in the crown of a flamboyant tree. We paused to take at least one photograph; we approached quietly, and the bird posed calmly for the shot. It stood out for its beautiful, glossy black plumage, with tiny glints visible on the feathers when the sunlight hit them. After taking the photos, other birds arrived at the tree; not wanting to disturb them further, I walked away slowly and silently.
Continuando con mi recorrido por la avenida Carúpano, me gustaría mostrarles algunos puntos situados a lo largo de la franja central de la avenida. Esta área se caracteriza por su vegetación y sus espacios naturales —ideales para descansar—, así como por bancos elaborados artesanalmente a partir de troncos de árboles. Las vistas son encantadoras y permiten contemplar el cerro Caigüire, también conocido como "Pan de Azúcar". Según un residente local, este cerro estuvo sumergido bajo el mar en el pasado; de hecho, se han encontrado allí conchas marinas, lo que indica que la zona estuvo alguna vez bajo el agua.
Durante la caminata, en compañía de mi hijo, vimos una hermosa ave de color negro, que estaba en la copa de un árbol de Flamboyán, hicimos una pausa para tomarle al menos una fotografía, nos acercamos sin hacer ruido y ella muy tranquila posó para la foto, esta ave resalta por su hermoso y brillante plumaje de color negro, con la incidencia del sol se aprecian pequeños destellos en sus plumas, luego de tomar las fotos llegaron otras aves al árbol, no las quise molestar con más fotos y me retiré caminando lentamente y sin hacer ruido.
After exploring the area around the hill, we took another path along a long road leading toward the old Corporiente headquarters; from there, we enjoyed different views of the hill and the surrounding houses. The climb was somewhat demanding, but by walking slowly, we managed to make it to the top. It was our first time visiting this area, and we were accompanied by a friend we ran into along the way; she explained that by following the trail along the hill, we could reach the city center.
Since we had plenty of time, we decided to embark on this adventure, and to our surprise, we reached the city center in just a few minutes. To be honest, I had my doubts at first, but we set out on the walk anyway. The sun was strong, and we had to go up and down the hill several times to reach our goal: the city center, where key historical landmarks converge. Along the way, I took only a few photos of the hill and some nearby trees. I was struck by the number of Neem trees along the path; I have seen them often in the city, and they seem to be the most abundant species in the area near the hill. From what I observed while skirting the hill, it is a significant part of the city's landscape and is deeply linked to the growth and expansion of the various neighborhoods that make up the capital of Sucre state; it also stands as a testament to the vast area once covered by the sea.
Luego de nuestro recorrido por la zona del cerro, tomamos otro sendero en una larga calle que conduce hacia la antigua sede de Corporiente, en ella se aprecian también otras vistas del cerro y varias casas alrededor, la subida es un poco exigente pero caminando despacio logramos llegar, es la primera vez que visitamos esta zona y en compañía de una amiga con quien nos encontramos en el camino, hicimos un recorrido por el área, ella nos explicó que siguiendo el sendero del cerro podríamos salir al centro de la ciudad.
Como teníamos suficiente tiempo, nos embarcamos en esta aventura y para nuestra sorpresa en pocos minutos ya habíamos llegado al centro de la ciudad, siendo honesta al principio tenía mis dudas pero de igual forma emprendimos la caminata, los rayos del sol estaban fuertes y nos tocó subir y bajar varias veces por el cerro para lograr la meta; llegar al centro de la ciudad donde convergen importantes puntos históricos, durante el camino solo tomé pocas fotos del cerro y algunos árboles ubicados cerca de él, me llamó la atención que a lo largo del camino se encuentran varios árboles de Neem, los he visto en muchas ocasiones en la ciudad y creo que es uno de los que más abundan en el área cercana al cerro, de acuerdo a lo que pude observar en este recorrido bordeando el cerro, forma parte importante del relieve en la ciudad y está muy vinculado con la historia de crecimiento y expansión de los diferentes sectores que integran la capital del estado Sucre además es un testimonio del vasto espacio que ocupaba el mar.
After finishing our tour of the city center, we took Rotaria Avenue through the Campeche district—a route leading to another key spot in the Caigüire area, very close to the well-known Makro store. There, we found a beautiful promenade shaded by large, abundant trees and featuring unique four-pointed star-shaped concrete benches.
Neem trees are visible here once again, alongside mango trees and flamboyant palms. There are also some interesting benches crafted from logs and branches, while parts of the grounds are covered in grass and familiar purple-leafed plants. The mango trees were in bloom at the time; they might well be bearing fruit by now. I really liked this boulevard and the green spaces that beautify the avenue—an ideal spot to take shelter from the city's relentless sun.
Terminado nuestro recorrido por el centro de la ciudad, tomamos la avenida Rotaria por el sector Campeche, que conduce a otro importante punto del sector Caigüire muy cerca del conocido establecimiento comercial Makro, donde se ubica un paseo muy hermoso con grandes y abundantes árboles en él construyeron bancos de concreto que tienen forma de estrella de cuatro puntas y a lo largo del terreno hay varios árboles.
Nuevamente aquí se observa el Neem y además de este hay árboles de Mango, palmeras Flamboyán y unos curiosos bancos hechos con troncos y ramas, además una pequeña parte del terreno está cubierta con grama y las conocidas plantas de hojas moradas, las plantas de mango estaban en la época de floración, tal vez para esta fecha ya estén dando sus frutos, me gustó este bulevar y sus espacios verdes que embellecen la avenida, además un espacio ideal para resguardarse del inclemente sol que caracteriza a la ciudad.

Fue un poco complicado por las subidas, solo lo bordeamos no llegamos hasta la parte alta, creo que no hubiese aguantado el trote había mucho sol y no tengo las condiciones físicas para escalar pendientes jeje
