One of the major pain points of modern-day devices is battery life. The computing power and the storage capacity of computers, phones, and tablets have improved tremendously but when it comes to battery, they still suck.

There is a huge need for long-lasting devices especially because they have become more prominent than ever. As such they are being used more and more for our work as well as pleasure.

Also, electric cars are now going mainstream and they will require something that will allow them to have long ranges such that they don't need frequent charging.

Even though battery tech might still take quite some time to catch up to the world's needs, long-distance wireless charging may be here sooner than expected.

Charging A Moving Target!

Wireless charging has been around for quite some time. However, it's not "real" wireless charging. It's more of inductive charging technology. Real wireless charging would be a system capable of charging devices from a few feet away (at least).

This is exactly what some research teams and startups have been developing. Now, a team of engineers from Standford University has developed a system that can charge even a moving target from a long distance.

They had first debuted this technology back in 2017. But now they have made it more efficient, powerful, and practical. This increases the viability of this technology in our devices and cars.

What's more, is their tech can charge even power-hungry devices/machines like robots and cars. Historically, this has been really hard to do. Scientists have only managed to transmit very low power over large distances.

Therefore, this new technology can be a complete game-changer. The team plans to roll it out of the lab soon which is encouraging. The sooner they do it, the better billions of lives will be!

Imagine a world with out power poles. A world where the energy really is free for everyone. Tesla would be doing happy back flips where ever he is if this became a reality.

Yeah!! It will be such a wonderful place to live in. No wires, no poles, free electricity (if they allow it). A piece of tech that was built over a century ago would finally materialize again!!
