Color blindness occurs when you are unable to see colors in a normal way-American Academy of Opthalmology

Sadly, this is me. I have battled with this since elementary school and I can't recall if I had gotten it from my Maternal side of the family, perhaps from my Paternal side which I don't know too well.

Now take a look at the screenshot in the cover image closely, it's a puzzle game from a game on Hive blocking. It's called Proof of Brain and you can navigate to it here on Fulltimegeek.com.

It looks simple, that is if you have sharp eyes and colours don't fly around in your vision like I have struggled with in over thirty years and counting. Yet, I have managed to be in the top three spots and also managed to go 200 game streaks.

However, this is not showboating about a puzzle game achievement, what do I have people who claimed top and second spot do? This is about the struggles of dealing with colour variants in real life. How it affects decision making and so on.

As trivial as this sound, having difficulties with colour had prevented me from Aviation school, also prevented me from joining the Air force. Color blindness commonly referred to as color deficiency is predominant in male. That is, the percentage of men/boys, suffering from it is more than that of women, ladies, girls.

And it often happens when people like can't easily tell the variation between some colors. The American Academy of Opthalmology stated that difficulty in recognizing colors often happens between certain colors which greens and reds, and occasionally blues the most common.

Strangely, I find blue colors easy to distinguish. Green and Reds are my Nemesis. They keep changing in my eyes and recently I mistaken someone wearing a red leggings for walking naked.

I still wonder how I scaled Chemistry classes in High school. Then came my woes in colour codes in electrical and electronics classes and laboratory works in college. I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering then majored in Telecommunications, isn't the that injurious to my already troubled sight?

After aviation and Air force dissapointment, I have had a real time to venture into Graphics design, UX design and so on.

It sucks to want to know how to do something so bad but keep goofing as a result of a defect. Although, it's not a defect visible to others, but it could be noticable sometimes with the way you drive.

I have almost run a Red light because of this. My elder brothers use to tease me when we were younger about it, they tell me I don't know colours, yet I kept passing my classes in elementary school. It's still a miracle to me now, how I scaled those phases of my live.

As an adult, I can categorically state that the disadvantages that comes with it is humongous. Though I have managed to stick with simple color clothing and accessories, but it's way harder trying to spot or locate another person in the crowd or on the street just because they put on a color that is way too complicated for me.

Also, I find it hard to see snakes or fruits on trees and shrubs. Especially the greenish or red ones. How do I get out of this?

I hope I manage to cope just like I have been doing for over three decades of my life. The screenshot above from a puzzle game triggered this venting, I hope you understand what someone with color blindness go through anytime you meet one.
