Breathe in salinity

It has a high tolerance level for salinity. The first (a pioneer) to colonize new deposits of sediment, sandy habitat and mud flat. Natural regeneration is often abundant. The seeds are recalcitrant. Useful to prevent erosion of coastal areas and windbreaks. The sap that comes out of the bark is reported to have efficacy as aphrodisiac, contraceptive and toothache medicine. The resin from the bark is used to treat snake bites. Its generic name honors Ibn Sina (Avicenna). And it is Avicennia marina.
