Mack Anthem: Five

avatar
(Edited)

Last night I left stage five of my Mack Anthem Lego build half done which never sits well with me. I like to complete each stage in full as leaving it for later brings the opportunity for pieces to go missing, or mistakes to be made...So...

I woke up really early this morning and completed stage five before I went to work. I'm suffering for it now though as I'm pretty tired considering the late night yesterday however I'm pleased to have stage five complete...Only two more to go.

Stage five sees the trailer begin to take shape. This trailer is designed to carry a shipping container and when complete will have the container on it, plus the crane arms and stabilising legs used to remove it. Stage five really just gets the base-trailer together which you can see above, hooked up to the prime mover, and below in greater detail.

This part of the build wasn't very technical as there are no differentials to install, however as there are a few moving parts so I still needed to concentrate. You can see the red cog mechanisms which will work the container-lifting arms and those little grey legs at the front, which support the trailer when unhooked, also operate up and down via that black cog you see just to the left of the legs.

I'm sorry these pictures aren't all that great as I was in a rush to get to work this morning however when it's all complete I'll photograph it better and you'll be able to see all the detail.

This model is pretty big at 95 centimetres long (about 37.5 inches) and in real life looks bloody amazing! I'm really pleased with it and felt a great sense of enjoyment hooking up that trailer to the prime mover. Did I back it up to hook up as it would in real life? You betcha I did! @krazzytrukker would be impressed with my reversing skills...(Probably not actually). Lol.

I think this is a very cool build and I'll probably push on with stage six tonight although that's the stage where the hydraulic container lifter comes together and I think will need some concentration so maybe I'll leave it until the weekend.

From there it's a simple matter of putting the container together and...Playing with the finished product! I know, I know...I'm an almost 50 year old bloke, but hey, doesn't mean I have to act like an old crusty bastard! So I like Lego, doesn't harm anyone so yeah...It's all good y'all! 😁

Keep an eye out for the next two builds and feel free to comment.

Back in 02..... 2002 not 1902.

Crusty and Old here......

I drove a Mack Vision, I believe that was the model. For about 6 months. Not a bad truck at all.

That crust is a wiley old customer, sneaks up only making its insidious presence known at the lat moment...But hark what is that? Lego-building come to save the day and drive away that crust like the mangey cur it is...

Of course you backed it up! I would have too. Did you make beeping sounds while you did it? :)
