Some people don't believe me that I am an engineer, to be exact Industrial Engineer; I graduated when I was barely 22 years old, in 2006, the truth is that at that age there were more fears that I had of not being a good professional or of not knowing how to put into practice all that I had studied for 6 years, yes, 6 years, although the career is scheduled to be seen in 5 years, I delayed one more year, and at this point I must say that, I hate Chemistry! I had to repeat this subject three times after I loved it. When I got to the university, it became my worst enemy and I was always a few tenths short of passing the course.

I will never understand, as there are job ads where you are asked to be young, just graduated, but with 5 years of experience, is that at that age I had no experience of being a teenager, I was only studying, and getting a job was really difficult, however, in December of that year after months of being at home not knowing what to do with my life, I was called to work in one of the worst companies that can exist, but come was my first job, the excitement did not let me see that, I would realize about 6 months later.

I had been hired as an Comprehensive Security Supervisor, which meant that I had to supervise both the physical security personnel of the plant (guards), and everything related to industrial security and work environment, and this company was a total disaster in both aspects, likewise, I accepted the challenge and the first 3 months were of total learning, however working without internet, without resources, with refusals to all the proposals I made, was really something exhausting. I almost forgot, I also had to supervise the cleaning staff of the company, the truth is that I was being exploited, and soon I began to feel that.

The company had been having problems with personnel, internal theft, complicity with surveillance personnel, a lousy closed-circuit camera system and digital surveillance, and it all came to a head one day when we realized that a submersible pump had been stolen from one of the sewage treatment plant's water pits, Something that was practically unbelievable, since this bomb weighs almost 500 kilograms and it was almost impossible for an external thief to know of its existence, of its value and also to remove it without the help of the pit where it was found, this only indicated problems, problems that would obviously fall on me because I was in charge of the area. Thank God the president of the corporation accepted that I had not been given the right tools and many doors had been closed to me to improve the area, and although the delinquent and his internal accomplice could never be found, from that moment on they began to take my suggestions into account.

The following month another case marked my life inside the company and outside it too, an April 19th, here is a holiday, therefore it was not my turn to go to work, so my boyfriend of that time invited me out that day with some friends, when we were passing just by the bus stop that is a few meters away from the company, there was a horrible accident, a car had lost control and took the structure of the bus stop and 3 people who were there. At the moment of passing by, we were really amazed and continued towards our destination, when we were at the place sharing with our friends, I received a call from the company indicating that one of the people who had died in that accident was one of the guards who were under my command.

This, in addition to the sadness that I felt because I was one of the people who had received me with much affection in the company, would make some of the company's managers come to light. Our laws establish that any accident that occurs in the company or on the way from the company to the worker's home, within the corresponding hours, is the responsibility of the company and as such it must assume the consequences and expenses of the same; However, the managers of the company did everything possible to wash their hands of this case and not to cancel the due compensations to their relatives, after this I only stayed in the company for two more months, because I could not tolerate working with such low people and with so little common sense, I decided to resign 6 months after having started to work and after this, they spent at least 6 more months without employment.

The University prepares us to be professionals in a specific area, however it does not teach us to react to difficult situations, we learn this as we go along!

Algunas personas no me creen que soy ingeniero, para ser exactos Ingeniero Industrial; me gradué cuando apenas tenía 22 años, en el 2006, la verdad es que a esa edad más eran los miedos que tenía a no ser una buena profesional o a no saber poner en práctica todo lo que había estudiado por 6 años, si, 6 años, aunque la carrera está pautada para ser vista en 5 años, yo me demore un año más, y en este punto debo decir que, ¡Odio Química!, ok ya lo dije, continuo, tuve que repetir esta materia 3 veces, después que la amaba, cuando llegue a la universidad se convirtió en mi peor enemiga y siempre me faltaban decimas para pasar la materia, por lo cual me atrase 1 año, menos mal, pues de haber salido de la universidad a los 21 , conseguir empleo hubiese sido más difícil de lo que fue.

Nunca entenderé, como existen avisos de empleo donde te piden ser joven, recién graduado, pero con 5 años de experiencia, es que a esa edad no tenía experiencia ni siendo adolescente, no hacía más que estudiar, y conseguir un empleo fue realmente difícil; sin embargo, en diciembre de ese año luego de meses estando en casa sin saber qué hacer con mi vida, me llamaron para trabajar en una de las peores empresas que pueden existir, pero venga era mi primer trabajo, la emoción no me dejaba ver eso, me daría cuenta unos 6 meses después.

Me habían contratado como Supervisor Integral de Seguridad, lo que significaba que tenía que supervisar tanto al personal de seguridad física de la planta (vigilantes), y todo lo referente a seguridad industrial y ambiente laboral, y esta empresa era un desastre total en ambos aspectos, de igual manera acepte el reto y los primeros 3 meses fueron de aprendizaje total, sin embargo trabajar sin internet, sin recursos, con negativas a todas las propuestas que hacía, era realmente algo agotador. Casi se me olvida, también debía supervisar al personal de limpieza de la empresa, la verdad es que me estaban explotando, y pronto comencé a sentir eso.

La empresa venía arrastrando problemas con el personal, robos internos, complicidad con el personal de vigilancia, un pésimo sistema de circuito cerrado de cámaras y vigilancia digital, y todo detono un día que nos dimos cuenta que se habían robado una bomba sumergible de una de las fosas de agua de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales, algo que era prácticamente increíble, pues esta bomba pesa casi 500 kilogramos y era casi imposible que un ladrón externo supiera de su existencia, de su valor y además pudiera sacarla sin ayuda de la fosa donde se encontraba, esto solo indicaba problemas, problemas que evidentemente recaerían sobre mí por ser la encargada del área. Gracias a Dios el presidente de la corporación acepto que no se me habían dado las herramientas correctas y me habían cerrado muchas puertas para mejorar el área, y aunque nunca se pudo dar con el delincuente y su cómplice interno, desde ese momento comenzaron a tomar en cuenta mis sugerencias.

Al mes siguiente otro caso marco mi vida dentro de la empresa y fuera de ella también, un 19 de abril, aquí es feriado, por lo tanto no me tocaba ir a trabajar, así que mi novio de esa época me invito a salir ese día con unos amigos, cuando estábamos pasando justo por la parada de autobuses que está a unos cuantos metros de la empresa, había un accidente horrible, un automóvil había perdido el control y se llevó la estructura de la parada de buses y a 3 personas que estaban allí. Al momento de pasar realmente nos asombramos y seguimos hacia nuestro destino, cuando estábamos en el lugar compartiendo con nuestros amigos, recibí una llamada de la empresa indicándome que una de las personas que había fallecido en aquel accidente era uno de los vigilantes que estaban abajo mi mando.

Esto además de la tristeza que me daba pues era una de las personas que me había recibido con mucho cariño en la empresa, haría que saliera a flote la bajeza de algunos directivos de la empresa, nuestras leyes establecen que cualquier accidente ocurrido en la empresa o en el recorrido de la empresa al hogar del trabajador, dentro de los horarios correspondientes, son responsabilidad de la empresa y como tal debe asumir las consecuencias y gastos de los mismos; sin embargo, los directivos de la misma hicieron hasta lo imposible por lavarse las manos con este caso y no cancelar las debidas indemnizaciones a sus familiares, luego de esto solo dos meses más permanecí en la empresa, pues no toleraba trabajar con personas tan bajas y con tan poco sentido común, decidí renunciar 6 meses después de haber comenzado a trabajar y luego de esto pasaron al menos 6 meses más sin empleo.
