RE: Code is Lore

I don't know why, but I like puns, plays on words and double-entendres, and I put many of them into my posts, as well as in the titles.

Every writer is part poet/ word-smith, I think. You can't love writing without having at least some appreciation for the music of word's sounds. As far as multi-entendres, I have a feeling that we enjoy them because they stimulate multiple areas of the brain simultaneously and help us go beyond the limitations of language.

We have seen this in the self-voting/ circle-voting behaviors that was met with downvoting behavior once the EIP was introduced. Those who benefited from keeping their voting circle to themselves, could no longer do so. While some changed and decided that 50% for the curation was enough, others retaliated because they could no longer take 100%. This retaliation continues.

I don't believe this circle-voting has stopped significantly. You can study the patterns of who votes for who and it tends to be relatively static over time, especially among the big players.

On Steem however, we are able to see what was going on through our own decentralized eyes and how individuals and groups reacted to various changes in the conditions. Through these reaction trends we may even be able to see into the intentions behind behavior or, discover a potential incentive to improve the functioning of the Steem mechanisms. Having the history available to us provides a pool of verified knowledge that can be leveraged to improve the evolutionary path - the next change in the code.

This has always appealed to me and underscores why I chose Steem for blogging my poetry. I wanted to document my progress as a writer in such a way that it would be preserved reliably. I also wanted to hold myself accountable for what I say, knowing there is no real way to delete it.

This means that the ecosystem of Steem is much more complex than that of for example Bitcoin, as while Bitcoin can avoid all of the social aspects and act much more like a tradition stock, Steem can't. It is also much more complex than the social aspects of Facebook or Twitter for the reverse reason, as they can avoid the financial economics at the frontend layer as they do not let average users earn on platform from their own content.

While messy, this blending of social interaction and economics is ahead of the societal curve - ahead of the game. What that means is having the ability to adapt on Steem means to be on a platform ahead of the global game, pushing the boundaries of the code.

This is spot on. I didn't choose to use Steem because I thought this technology would be perfected overnight. I've kept using it because the very messiness you mentioned is a necessary prerequisite in practically every revolutionary change through history. And being a part of that is exciting.

I think and I am sure that Steemit is also the right path for shared exchanges of experiences and culture.
This is beyond the remuneration of a post or comment.
What stands out is a quality of information that can be freely shared by everyone, the new HF has eliminated the junk posts and those who took unfair votes from the BOT.
A real leap in quality. Sorry for my bad english.

It is kind of like the kids movies that work on different levels, something for everyone.

There is one very closed community on Steem with a lot of SP - they are retaliating whenever it is pointed out.

I also wanted to hold myself accountable for what I say, knowing there is no real way to delete it.

It is funny that you say this, while it is what scares many others. I have written a lot about a lot here and I am sure that if someone trawled it all with an uncharitable eye, they could "quote me" out of context and make me look very bad. This is the internet and it is filled with small people wanting attention.

And being a part of that is exciting.

I find it very engaging and worthy my attention. I find it quite incredible that people would want to sit and watch something mindless on TV rather than be here on the edge of tomorrow.
