My First Hive Post - Taking Life as it Comes

Let me start off by saying two things. First, I want to thank each and every one of you that made this Hive platform possible. Just a week before everything broke out on Steemit, I had just informed everyone I would be taking a step back to focus on home life. I decided to stick around longer to see what the future held for our Steem family. Once it was made clear that this would be our new home, I made sure to successfully transition (password change, new recovery account set etc.) before leaving...I’m so glad I did that.

Second, this is not a permanent back to blogging post but rather a “how have I been, how life is treating me” fyi. There have been a few that reached out to check on me and I really appreciate that. This is also a way for me to see how you all have been doing as well (so please make sure to leave me a comment on that because I’ve missed you). ❤️

What have I been doing? Just what the title says...taking life as it comes. It’s so easy to get stressed out, full of anxiety and have panic attacks when things don’t go as planned or when scary events strike. With such a time of uncertainty that we are living in all we can do is pray, hope and be proactive by planning and preparing the best we can, keeping our families as safe as possible. We have been stocking up on necessities since everything first broke out and continue to do so.

I had a few moments that caused me anxiety, thinking about how different it is for my kids and the type of society and confusion they have to grow up in. Getting passed that, we have decided to make the best of everyday. We love on each other as often as possible and continue on with the goals we set out for our family. I have many opinions and speculations about what’s really going on in our world but I won’t get into all that. Instead I’ll just say this, it saddens me looking out into the new reality and how it’s going to be from now on. The world as we once knew it has changed and we now have to learn how to live and cope with it.

Everyone in my family is safe and well and homeschooling is still in session. We homeschool year round with several breaks (sometimes days, weeks or months off) in between. This works for the dynamic of our family (five children) which allows me to get everyone’s work completed. Our children are now 2, 3, 7, 8 and 10. Our youngest isn’t a sleeping baby any more, she’s running around here terrorizing everyone. I do however love when she leaves me evidence that she snuck and played with my phone 😅...

She and my three year old son are the best of friends and it’s so adorable watching them play together. So home life involves a lot more hands on work for me now and I couldn’t imagine blogging as much as I used to...at least not yet.

Some of our vacation plans had to change but we still manage to find places to go for fun. We recently drove out to Springfield to visit the ride-thru caves. It was really a great homeschool experience for the kids and they took a few rocks and stones home with them as souvenirs. Here’s some pics of the formations I captured from inside the cave...

9FB33E61-3B46-4BCE-A248-B80263830BFB.jpeg

This is a solution cave (majority of caves are) that are formed in carbonate and sulfate rocks such as limestone, dolomite, marble, and gypsum. It’s formed by the action of slowly moving ground water that dissolves the rock to form tunnels, irregular passages, and even large caverns along joints and bedding planes.

Chemical changes inside the cave make the minerals harden and form deposits, such as icicle-like stalactites (which hang from the ceiling) and stalagmites (which rise up from the ground). If you have never visited a cave I highly suggest you make plans to, it’s really amazing seeing these formations. We loved the whole science of it all!

Before we left we decided to take one of their abandoned ride-thru vehicles for a stroll...

First we made the plan:

Next, we checked to see if the coast was clear:

Then we went for it full speed ahead:

We lost focus when someone spotted us:

By the time we turned around it was too late...

WE WERE SURROUNDED!

Then he blames it all on me. 😏

For the last few months I’ve been getting more acquainted with knitting. I really haven’t been motivated to do much crocheting or other crafting. I’ve been working on a couch throw in the seed stitch.

I really love working with this stitch because I get tons of practice on both the knit and purl.

As you can see I'm using circular needles! I purchased this set because I liked the wood and how smooth it looked. They feel really great in my hands.

The set included cables, connectors, cable keys and stitch markers that were placed in this supply pocket.

My daughter is still coming up with creative ways to use scrap materials. She recently quickly designed this vest for her sister’s bear. She said it needed an upgrade. 😅

Well that’s the last few months of my life in a nutshell. I wasn’t for sure how well I would remember all of the markdowns for posting but surprisingly it was as if I hadn’t been gone for awhile. I guess once a blogger always a blogger :D

When you get a moment please drop me a comment to let me know how you’ve been. I’ll pop in from time to time because I promised I wouldn’t become a stranger. I’m sure I’ll have a lot to catch up with and learn about this platform once I fully return.

Also, I started a YouTube channel sharing my beginner crochet videos. I must warn you I haven’t uploaded in awhile but plan to do so sooner than later. Here’s the link, would love support if you’re interested: Crochet with Crosheille.

Take care Hive fam ~ ❤️

Yours truly,

Welcome to hive! 😁 So lovely to see you haven't abandoned us completely. It's been a crazy year and I'm glad you're getting through it step at a time. Our children have a completely different world to step into than the one we grew up in.

Thank you @homeedders @minismallholding! Of course not! I can’t see myself ever doing that. I think about you all more than you know. You’ll see me pop in from time to time ;)

Yes, it’s so surreal looking out into the world our children have to grow up in. I’m like when is this horror movie nightmare going to end. Unfortunately this is just the beginning, it will only get worse from here :(

Wow! Scrolling through my feed for just a bit "in here" and "what to my wondering eyes does appear?" 👀 @crosheille! 😀 So very nice to "see" you again and catch up on how you and your family are doing!

Yes, we live in a time of significantly increased uncertainty, as our world seems to be losing its "collective mind" ... I imagine you and I would find a lot of agreement, in discussing what is going on "behind the curtain," as we all experience what is unfolding before us ...

I have written about the impact of COVID-19 quite a bit. While we are all still healthy, the financial impact on us has been considerable (as is the case with many people across the world). I personally believe we are still in only the very early stages of what is coming ...

This impact has caused upheaval, with some of our nearby children and grandchildren needing to moving away, in response to the financial distress. We are saddened by this, but remain firm in our belief He has ordained it and we will get through it.

With the impact of the Steem <=> Hive blockchain "wars," I am more "part-time" these days. And now (you may or may not know this ...) there are two new splits of the Steem blockchain => Blurt and Zapata ... Seems the instability "out there" is mirrored, in some respects, "in here" ...

Well, that is enough out of me. Glad that I "just so happened" to be scrolling through my feed, when your post came up. Otherwise, not sure when I might have known about it.

Until next time, God bless you and yours! 🙏

P.S. Loved the good humor surrounding your trip to Fantastic Caverns. We visited Branson once and I vaguely remember seeing a sign about that attraction, but didn't realize you could drive through it. If there is a future visit, maybe next time!

Hey there @roleerob! Yep it’s me! 😄. So appreciative you took the time to say hello. It’s good hearing from you too.

Oh yes, I am sure you and I would have a lot to agree on about what’s really unfolding. It will only get worse from here. I keep telling everyone to prepare for the second wave this Fall and keep stocking up on essentials.

Wow! No I have not heard about the newest split on Steem blockchain. Seems more and more confusion keeps happening over there. Are you part time over there too? Or are you just a Hiver now? I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up with both and honestly with all the uncertainties over there I powered down everything and made this my permanent home.

Thank you! We had a lot of fun and couldn’t resist the opportunity of being silly. We gotta have as many fun moments as possible in times like these :) I think you all would love the caves. You learn quite a bit on that ride.

It was so good catching up with you. Take care and God bless you and keep you and your family safe ~

Yes, @crosheille ...

"I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up with both ..."

... as time permits, I am just a Hive blogger now. Aside for any other reason, for the same one you cite. I have far more important things I think I am needing to be doing with my time ...

P.S. Depending on the timing of your withdrawal, these other two blockchains have performed airdrops of their new tokens. What value will they have? I have no idea, but thought you would want to know about the possibility. If even only to exchange them and increase the amount of HIVE you have in your account.

I feel the same way. Even more so now, there are so many important things to do and get done.

Thank you so much for the heads up. So how do I get to their blockchains? Do I just search the their name?

Yes, it has always been a challenge for me @crosheille to understand what these "virtual worlds" represent. Specifically, in terms of what we are called to do and be in our relationships with others ...

Here is what is found in their "snapshot" of the Steem blockchain:

image.png

Very crude, as these numbers have no formatting. With each, you move the decimal over 3, so e.g. it appears you would have 1,547.001 BP [Blurt Power] and 1,083.615 Blurt. And the same, as far as the Zapata tokens, although they are farther behind in their launch ...

Links:

In the limited time I have to check on progress, the impression I have is they are getting going in "fits and starts," so you may want to give it a week or so to be more stable.

If you are on Discord and can provide me with your name there, then I can send you a Discord invite, if you would find that of interest. Mine is roleerob#3299.

Have a great day! 👋

I couldn’t agree more with that top statement and couldn’t have said it better.

Wow, thank you so much for passing on this info to me. I’m a bit surprised I’ll have some of that token. I was still in the process of powering down but I guess I still had Steem left when they launched. I tried to get to their blockchain but it says they are undergoing changes at the time. I’ll check back in a week or two to let
things settle and finish developing. I know how long that could take.

Yes absolutely thank you. My discord info: crosheille#0986

I’ll see ya around :)

Good morning @crosheille. "Back in" a bit, as I was "out and about" yesterday with family and ministry ...

Invite is in place in Discord. Once active, I will update you with what I know.

We might also "compare notes" on my "top statement" ... 🙂 👋

Oh I can't TELL you how nice it is you've popped in for an update!!! Sooo cool. How you EVER had time for blogging was beyond me, but we miss you here! Do keep dropping in from time to time.

It's been a crazy year huh? I had 4 months overseas in England at my husband's families place.. all very lovely countryside but due to COVID we didn't get the Europe trip we planned. Nevermind, we are home now and enjoying what we have.

Love those photos of you in the stationary car. Xx

Heya heya @riverflows! It’s soooo good hearing from you! Thanks so much for stopping in to see me! 😃

Haha I know. Now when I think back I must have really loved being here because I made it happen. I don’t see how I was doing it either lol. But I sure miss it though.

Yes, it’s been such a crazy and surreal year. I’m sorry you didn’t get the trip you planned but very glad you made it back home safely.

Thanks so much! It was a lot of fun. ❤️

@crosheille - It is great to hear from you. Glad that the family is doing well and that homeschooling is still up and running. It is always challenging when the littles want to "invade" learning time.

You were not too far away from where I currently live when you visited the Fantastic Caverns north of Springfield. Did you go to the Bass Pro Shop? Did you try Andy's Frozen Custard?

Hope to see you around!

Hey @sumatranate! Thanks so much for stopping by to say hi! I hope you and your family are doing well too.

Oh wow so cool! We didn’t make it out to either one of those. We did eat at Lambert’s Cafe and went to a nearby mall before leaving. I grew up going to the Bass Pro Shop with my dad so that would have been nice if we had time to go there.

You’ll see me pop in from time to time ;)

Take care ~

I have not been to Lambert's in a long time. I did work there for a couple of years when I was (much) younger. Pop in any time, but I completely understand that life is still pushing along off chain.

You have some funny photos here, made me smile. I was homeschooled in the 1990's. Glad you moved over to Hive. I still post to Steemit but Hive is my new home for a primary blog.

Hey @crosheille! I'm back in blogging (and commenting!!) for nearly a week now myself and today stumbled upon @minismallholding (being a top @tipu curator at the moment) and the @homeedders feed. When I spotted your account mentioned there I immediately though, well, hadn't @crosheille left? - and easily found your post (not buried deeply in your feed). I'm excited how the Hive community evolved - especially the developer and investment branches (as far as I can tell) - and look forward in being around from time to time. Good to see you back as well - for already quite some time!

Hey there @anli! Well...😂😂😂 I didn't plan on being back so soon...but who was I fooling? 🤣 I couldn't stay away for too long. I did enjoy my six months off though and it was very much needed.

Thanks for taking the time to say hello. It's good to know you are blogging and commenting too ;)

P.S. I don’t reblog often but when I do I try not to clog up my feed too much so I’m very selective. ☺️😉
