Real Men Clean the Planet
Excuse the absense, but we have great photos from another week of manly work, that's not over yet! Today is another 150 trees of reforestation, this time on Buena Vista!
But one thing that caught my eye this week, a very 'natural view' of Politics:
As I was walking into town on Thursday, I happened to stop and observe my surroundings long enough tohe notice that a years old political message was strangling a tree, a common avacado tree that feeds many birds and beasts including humans. This 'common' avocado is on public land so it has 'no owner'.
Tree growth does nor produce any outward force, so very little can strangle a tree, like these two complete circles of plastic boxing tape. Its a shame that this candidate, who lost last years election, is still causing damage.
Its almost time for another avocado harvest - Here in libano, even our poor don't go hungry. How are your local systems fairing?
More updates to come, plus the winners of the Show Me Your Farm and Garden Contest, Stay tuned!
Thank you @ecoinstant, for using the CO2 Compensation Coin (COCO) to reduce your CO2 footprint.
That poor tree - strangulation is a terrible fate. Thank you for stepping up. And yes, real men DO clean up, wash dishes, mop floors, save trees and take out the trash. x 😍
the rings of box tape on that avocado tree are pretty obnoxious. really hate seeing plastic waste in the environment.
I'm glad you pulled it off the tree. Denver did/does the same with some trees - I used to lament about the metal grates around street trees that had long since collared the tree as it was growing in that in-and-out, bulbous way as it was throttled and then had room above. They ended up cutting down all those trees for the new construction though, and planted some new ones but not as many as we had, and of course they're all much younger so we won't have shade from them for years. :( I wonder if 30 years from now if those trees will be OK or also neglected because whoever is "in charge" can't be bothered. :(

Good work my man, we have a major issue here in the Philippines with plastic waste.
A cultural shift change is needed as the addiction to plastic and the willingness to just discard it anywhere is choking this country.
