Are you going to purchase/upgrade to an RTX 30xx Series Graphics Card?

in Ask the Hive7 months ago

This question is off to my gamers on the chain. Are you planning to build a new computer when you are able to get a brand new RTX 30xx series card? Is RTX 3070, 3080 or 3090 is good enough for you or are you planning to wait for either budget cards or even better (3090 Ti?) cards?

Though the market is completely destroyed by scalpers and various bots at the moment with sales of a 3080 reaching up to $2000 USD on eBay, I am sure Nvidia will be able to pop even more GPUs sooner or later.

Personally, I am not planning to upgrade. Now that I have seen the reviews for both 3080 and 3090 (the NDA is lifted), it just makes me remember that I still run a 1080p screen, IMO it is hard to game in 4K especially with 144hz monitors being so expensive, I don't even know if I'll ever do it.

I need a new setup so I would love to get my hands on a RTX 3080.. But it will have to wait. Even though the prices are great, I can't afford any of them right now.

While for most smartphones, their prices drop just a few months after release, the sad part is, it's the exact opposite for the GPUs. I hope the prices don't get any worse than the current list, as they are, as you said, amazing.

How are the reviews on them? Are they monsters or just moderate improvement over the 2080 series?

3080 is an absolute beast. Even a 3070 is equivalent to 2080Ti and I think about 60% cheaper than 2080Ti. While 3080 is even better than that, 3090 is in its own league, basically.

I just got a laptop with RTX 2070 a few months ago and I'm happy with it, so I will not buy 30xx cards any time soon. I only play CS:GO and 300 fps from 2070 is enough.

No I wouldn't, because I'm broke.
