Growing up, I don't own many toys, not because my parents didn't buy one. I prefer to play outside rather than playing with toys. I don't crave a specific toy, but I like a card game or anime-related like Beyblade and Tamiya. I don't always ask for toys from my parents. I am a kid whose toys broke after few days his parent bought them. It is the reason why I don't play with toys a lot.

I grow up playing outside with friends rather than staying indoors. If I play at home, I open disassembled things like an old radio or any electronic junk. Or I draw and create monologues in my head. I am not used to playing with toys, but I remember I had one toy that makes me feel elated is a toy car, which my grandfather give me. Aside from it, I usually purchase anime card games in our school.

There are few toys I enjoyed playing with: the toy car, card game, and Beyblade. Aside from it, I don't pay attention. As I mentioned earlier, I am quite impulsive, and I always dismantle things. Often toys are my laboratory rats. There are no toys that can last long with me if there is maybe one or two.

There is one toy that I had and still in my possession today. I had a battery-operated toy car. My grandfather bought it for my fifth birthday. I still have the toy car, and it is working. It is the only toy that lasts for more than a decade. I am not a sentimental person, but the toy car always reminds me of things last when we take good care of it.

The toy was a 1998 space cop police car. It can run, pullover, and turn around. It has a center lift that elevates the car like a spaceship. The wheels have lights that change depending on the car's motion. When it lifts off, the lights flicker, and the wheels spread out as it turns around. The headlights open up when the toy is on. The toy car moves on its own when you turn it on. I can't control the toy car remotely.

The toy car aesthetics may have faded over time, but it still looks elegant in black with iconic space patrol stickers. I had fun memories with this toy car. I can remember that I watched the car move until it runs out of battery with my cousins. My sister would sneak it out from my cabinet to play with it, and my parents scolded us because we quarreled about who has the right to play it. That was the good old times I always cherished.

I remember that we would gather around and watched it dance. We were like children who have their first time watching a moving toy car every time we play with it. We always argue with my friends about who will push the button to make it run. I love those gold old days where I am just playing around without responsibilities.

My grandfather passed away in 2002, and this toy car always reminds me of the good memories I had with him. He is a military man who serves in the second world war. After he retired from service, he works out his passion for architecture and engineering. He was a gifted artist who can plan buildings by just looking at a piece of land. I often see him draw out plan while on his Volkswagen.

He gave me toys, and often it's either a toy car or a bike. He would bring me to the mall with his Volkswagen to play on an arcade and bought me a toy. It was still like the other day when I reflect on the fun we did. With all of these memories, and aside from the toys, I always remember the Volkswagen.

Over the years, I grow an interest in old and vintage cars like my grandfather's red Volkswagen Beetle. You can say that I have an old soul. I don't know why I love old cars. Maybe it is for nostalgia. Old cars bring back good old memories. I can hear from car shows and collectors that old cars have a different smell and feel than the cars today.

If money is not an issue, I would love to buy and collect old and vintage cars. I don't want to buy an old car because I can remember the good old days, but I want to buy it because it's something we can take pleasure from our good old memories. We have fun in our childhood, and we can buy something that relates to it and take pleasure from it.

Maybe my love of old and vintage cars is an influence from my grandfather; hence I also take one of his passion, which is engineering. I remember him through the toy car or on a Volkswagen. I may have a good old soul who loves things vintage and beautiful. I prefer a good lyric and music to funky ones. I like to have a long drive in the countryside in a classy Volkswagen Beetle.

If money is not an issue, I would love to buy first a red Volkswagen Beetle. I love the sleeky curve and the elegant feel you can get by just looking at it. I had an officemate who drives a red beetle to work. I see him like he owns the parking lot as he stands out from the rest. His beetle outshines the gorgeous modern cars in the parking lot.

Old cars have a sense of identity that gives an illusion of elegance, and it stands out. Like the Transformer's Bumblebee, it is so sexy and curvy. Or like Disney's Herbie, it is vibrant and fun. I don't know why I was often drawn to old cars when most people love the modern and luxurious ones. My friends love to have the BMW, Lamborghini, and the like. But for me, I love a good old Volkswagen Beetle.
