Josua's invention

My name is Josua and I am a scientist, since I am 19 years old I have been conducting a study in which the whole humanity will be benefited, I found an atom capable of allowing humanity to live normally on other planets, this work although I was doing it alone, I counted on my trusted friend Peter, who although he knew nothing about the subject was always there, supporting me. I could not have a better friend.

Lately I had noticed Peter very strange, it seemed that something was bothering him, but since my research was almost finished I had no time to think about what was happening to him, I supposed that the stress of my day to day life had infected him. But in the end I overlooked it. One night I noticed that I had finally finished my invention, the oxygen atoms I had created were able to clean in just 24 hours the oxygen of any planet and made it habitable, that invention was the best advance that science could have, I celebrated proudly with my friend Peter that great achievement that took me years, then we went home, and in the morning I had to organize everything for my invention to be made public.
The next morning, when I get to my lab, all the stuff is all over the place, glass on the floor, broken computers, my laptop that I had carelessly left in the office was gone, "what am I going to do" I thought to myself. I had been robbed, my research was there, when I checked the compartment where the atoms were, they were not there. The only one who knew that I had already finished my experiment was Peter, my hand was shaking as I dialed his number to call him, I could accept that I was robbed, lose all my work but I could not accept that it was my trusted friend who did it.

When I finally managed to make the call, I hung up immediately because my gaze was fixed in one place, it was the billboard, Peter had left a note that said: "I'm sorry". That's all he said, those words were enough for me to know that it was him who stole my work. I could not believe it, we had more than 8 years of friendship, he was the only friend I had.

After that bitter impression, I cleaned the laboratory, although they took away something important that I worked with which was my laptop, my father had taught me since I was a child that in matters of money and work I could not trust anyone, that laptop only had parts of the research, in the other computer that they had left also had another part but not even putting the two together would have the exact way to make the atom that had taken me so much work, the complete experiment I always wore it on my neck. It was a gift my mother gave me, a necklace that hid a small memory where I had all my work.

It is true that Peter took the atoms but I could not do anything, in my brain and in that small memory was the way to make them work. I only had to wait a couple of days for Peter to be accused of being an impostor, the other scientists realized that he had not created the invention because he did not have the complete research and did not know how to make them work. I was present at that meeting and I stood up and proclaimed myself the owner of the invention and showed the evidence to prove it. I didn't look at Peter for a second, that's the least he deserves for violating my trust.

Right now, I'm on a spaceship, we're heading to Mars to test the molecules I invented. Despite what Peter did I didn't press charges against him, the worst punishment someone can have is to know that you lost something very valuable, trust and that is never regained. I for one am on a direct flight to where I wanted to go, no one could stop me from fulfilling my dreams, this is the beginning of my new reality.
