Axe Throwing at Lumber Punks

Have you ever wanted to live out your fantasy as a Viking throwing axes at an unsuspected wooden target just like Loki from Vikings?

Well Lumber Punks in Brisbane Australia is the place for you.

We rounded up the troops for my mate Mitch's bucks party the other weekend and did just that.

The venue is set up with multiple cages to test your might with the Axe and for safety reasons.

They also have a little games arcade with old school arcade games and some pinball.

Now Axe Throwing takes a bit of practice to get the weight right when you throw it so the blade will hit the target. You can throw the Axe from over your shoulder with two hands or one.

I preferred the single arm throw as I had more accuracy.

Once we all had a couple of practise goes, and the axes where wedged in nicely into the target, it was time to get the competition going.

The game goes like this-
Each player has five goes at the target.
The bulls eye is 5 points
Inner ring is 3 points (red line)
Outer ring is one point (blue line)

One person throws while the others keep score.
If you hit a painted line and the majority of the blade is on the line it counts for those points.

Axes that don't stick don't count.

Keep players honest and call staff for disputes or you can call them out to the car park to settle the score haha.

On the fifth go you can call high hat before you throw and aim for either the two green circles at the top of the target, also known as the skill shot.
If you nail this with your impressive Axe Throwing tactics you will score a huge seven points.

At the end of the game the scores are tallied up and the person with the most points wins.

It sure was alot of fun, and a perfect start to the bucks party.

Axe Throwing is a bit like bowling but more fun in my opinion. As there is a slight bit of danger if the axes bounces back at you when it bounces off the target. It will keep you on your toes.

If there is an Axe Throwing place near you I recommend giving it a go as it is a bit of fun for an hour or so.

Some shouldn't be trusted with throwing axes...or frisbees.
