My clone became my son's father

This is such a good day to write and join the Weekend-Engagement concept of sir @galenkp to the Weekend Experiences community. I have been waiting weeks for his newly updated concept every Friday because all the time, the topics he picked were truly beyond good. You know, you have this urge and expectation that those who’d like to join will surely do their best for creating an articulated, imaginative, and well-written piece.

For this week’s prompt, there are three topics you can choose from. Actually, the choices are harder than I thought because they are all interesting. But unfortunately, I have to choose only my topic and expound on it as much as I can. The concept I chose was the weekend clone with the question stating that,

“You've managed to create a clone of yourself but it will only last for one weekend. What do you do with your clone and why?”

The dark, cloudy sky covered the whole celestial sphere as the moon started to show up. A creepy, chilling, and irksome feeling poured out inside of me when I sat at the old rocking chair. I looked at the heaven above while shaking my head. “It’s time for the greatest invention of all time to happen.” I rose from the chair, stretching my neck side by side to prepare myself for finalizing my crazy invention. A smug look was all over my face.

I was hailed and bannered as the craziest scientist of the century for masterminding unbelievable inventions that won awards internationally. My family banished me when I was a teen boy, but taking up the courage to pursue becoming a scientist. Courted the girl I dreamed of, married for 17 years, and had two beauteous sons. My wife was working as a technical specialist in her uncle’s company two cities away from home.

Two yellowish fluorescent lights hanging on the ceiling, swinging back and forth. The three tables are perfectly positioned at each corner of the room. Lab equipment and tools were piled up neatly on the tables. You will notice many chemicals, different in colors, and some even emitting smoke. I positioned myself, mixing various chemicals into one, then suddenly my son knocked on the door. He was banging loudly which was very uncommon for my son.

I opened the door. He looked pretty exhausted, I guessed they played really hard outside today. He asked me to check his assignments, but I told him to wait for a little while since I was working on my experiment. I was bothered lately for my two sons should need a parent or guardian for the upcoming meeting and basketball game. Unfortunately, it was at the same time, and my wife was on business travel for a week. I’d like to attend, but how can I if it’s at the same time?

I went back to my lab, continued the mixture, and I have nearly perfected it when another bang on the door sounded. “This boy really needs a lesson!” “Carson, just stop! I have to finish this okay, can we talk later?” I shouted. Carson didn’t reply back, so I guess he went off. I was getting another substance when a bang on the door happened again. “Stop! Carson, just stop!” My head burst in anger, and I didn’t notice I put the wrong substance in my mixture. It smokes exponentially, its color changes from indigo to Fuschia, and it started to boil.

To my surprise, I touched the smoke and I didn’t feel anything. But then, a couple of minutes later, I started to feel itchy in my hands going up to my arms, neck, chest, and until it reaches all over my body. My breathing stops, my head hurts, and my skin peels off. As if my whole body and soul were removed from me. I lost consciousness from the pain, and I woke up facing a mirror. No, it’s not a mirror, but my other half, “a clone?”

My sons knocked on the door, and I hid my clone in the bathroom. They entered the lab and nagged me for I haven’t cooked since it was time for dinner. I apologized to my kids and ordered food because I have no time to cook. Everything went fine that night, but in the morning was the final match of my son’s team in basketball while the other one has a parent and child meeting in his school. I instructed my clone to become the “father of one of my sons” in the meeting. Fortunately, he agreed since he had the same mind, personality, and rationality.

The basketball game started while on the other hand, the meeting as well. We texted each other about what was happening, what my kid did, and where were they eating meals. He sent me tons of pictures and videos. I was glad my son didn’t confuse and suspect anything. As the day went on, the game ended winning my son’s group. Although he was not the MVP, I was still proud of what he had done for the team. We went to his favorite restaurant along Kebpon’s Street.

I kept my sons busy so they wouldn't notice and wonder why their brother wasn't there. The fun continued as I bought him shoes, shirts, and boxers. My clone asked if they could go to a bar near the university, and I agreed. I thought it would be a good idea to get my son drunk so he could sleep early, and it worked. We all went home at the same time around 11 p.m. I told my son to wait a moment because I needed to tell him something, but it was just a distraction for my clone to come in first.

"All right, let's get started!" My son was perplexed, but I didn't mind. "Go now, leave the car," he said as he banged on the door, and I let him do it once, just once. I completed all of the tracks that my clone completed. I let him sleep in my lab and then locked it. When I went to check on him the next day, he was gone. I panicked and yelled loudly enough for the entire room to hear. However, no one responded. That's when I noticed his clothes in the bathroom, picked them up, and discovered a jelly-like creature. "Are you serious? You became a slime?”

Hahahha natawa ako sa ending... naging laruan na lang sya hehehe tama ba ako sa pagkakaintindi? My son asked me how much the slime cost? I told him I don't know, why? then he said na gusto nya sana magkaroon ng ganoon hehehe kawawa naman.. May friend kasi sya na may ganoon at naglaro sila last time. Baka gusto mo ibigay mo na lang kay Sam-sam yung slime na clone mo hehehe...

Yes, the clone turned into a slime. Perhaps it happened because the clone was just an accidental experiment, so it was not fully developed.

I don't know how much slimes right now, but I think it's around less than a hundred pesos. Depends on the quality and quantity of colors.

I might find some when I can visit the town and bought some for Sam-sam for sure he would be glad.

I wonder though, does the clone have feelings? What would it think about having died off before it even lived it's life. Also, does the clone have the same thoughts and memories as it's creator? And since the creator fainted at the point of time the clone came into existence, who is is confirm who/which is the clone and who/which version died? Did the experiment get messed up and had fatal implications for the creator? Was the creator murdered?

Food for thought. 🤣

My gosh! I didn't expect these questions. Oh well, basically, the clone has no emotions. It has same mind, personality, and rationality copied from its creator. Of course, when the creator fainted, the clone was already born so it confirmed whose the creator and clone. The experiment messed up since he accidentally created a clone of himself, but so far he's safe.

Love your questions though.

haha 😜.

I was just reminded of the show "The Prestige". The plot twist at the end bears some connection to the idea of perfect clone replication and the question of the human soul and such.

Wow! Yeah, I watched the movie before and I didn't remember the plot of the movie now. It has been a decade though haha.

I was looking for the part where I can find your father and the clone seeing each other 😅. As the title says..lol.but it was still fun.
If I'll have a clone, I will definitely go to vacation even just for a week 🤣.

Oh gosh! The story's narrator is the father's point of view. Haha. It was not actually me or the son itself.

Yeah, a vacation indeed. Away from work, stress, and business in life. Just pure relaxation, calming heart and meditation. How good that life is.

Kaka anime mo to, ung slime na anime. 😂
Charot lang

I like the concept. It would really be nice to do more stuff and be in 2 places at the same time. It's not easy though but to have a clone like what you narrated - I wonder, will the clones have the same emotions and memories as you?

Oh, that's a good anime though. The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I watched the whole season, and even read the light novel. Too many arcs. Ugh!

In my story, they have the same memories, but the emotions hadn't been copied. Emotions is something that is unique to us, and it might mimic by others but still cannot copy the exact emotion you have.

Thanks miss. I find it hard to write a whole new concept each story, but I'm enjoying it.

HAhaha! Na relate talaga sa anime noh 😂

Emotions are unique - this is nice. I agree with this too but sometimes we develop these emotions because of our memories. Ayy ano ba ang gulo ko lang noh, ginugulo lang kta kaya wag ka na maniwala hahaha

Glad to know you enjoyed it! What's important is we are having fun.

Yeah, sa mga previous novels, stories, and scripts lang din ako minsan nahugot ng mga ideas. Jusko, sa dami ng nabasa kong libro ewan ko nalang kung wala pang ideas sa utak ko. Haha.

I am sure if I had been that clone, I would have tried to take over my prime's life. I sure would have his thoughts, feelings, and intelligence. And I would not want to be sidelined, even though I know he is the prime and I am the clone. Too bad the clone turned into slime.

Crap! That would be a wild battle between the creator and the creation. I think I watched some movie similar in that kind of scene. Yeah, unfortunately, I turned the clone into slime since that's the easiest way to get rid of it.

Reminds me of Gemini Man, a movies starring Will Smith. His clone was going to eliminate him. However, I do not remember much of the movie, but I remember that his clone had its mind brain washed by an old parner of his.

But I guess turning him into slime works really well. Makes so much easier to get rid of it.

Wow! I actually researched the movie and it seems interesting. I haven't watched this film yet. Will Smith is a good actor though.

Yeah, there's no better option of killing him since he's just an experiment.
