Brave Release Their Own Search Engine With Indexing Built From Scratch

Brave has been one of the greatest cryptocurrency projects. Even the Basic Attention Token held its price extremely well during the long bear market. I missed the ICO that raised $35 Million in 24 seconds. After coming across the project I was extremely impressed and witnessed how Brave Browser evolved over time. It was a great experience and I insist that Brave is the greatest browser on Earth.

Brave Browser released with DuckDuckGo as its browser. Now the developers have released a beta version of their own search engine. It will only be the default search for Brave browser at the end of the year. You are still going to be able to use your current search engine without any issue. It is just Brave Search will be promoted in place of DuckDuckGo.

Later API access to Brave Search will be offered so it can power other search engines.

Even supposedly “neutral” or “private” search engines rely on big tech for results. Brave is different. We deliver results based on our own built-from-scratch index. We’re beholden to no one.

It Gets Even Better

Brave Search is also introducing the industry's first search independence metric, displaying the ratio of results coming exclusively from Brave's index. It is derived privately using the user's browser as we do not build user profiles. Users can check this aggregate metric to verify the independence of their results and see how results are powered by our own index, or if third-parties are being used for long tail results while we are still in the process of building our index.

Currently Brave does depend on third parties like Bing to a small extent in order to maintain high quality results until they up their game. What is an industry first is that all of this is going to be fully transparent and can be viewed with a single click.

Great For Other Privacy Search Engines Too

I am a big fan of https://duckduckgo.com and https://qwant.com These are not alone in the quest to provide more privacy and better results. (I strongly urge you to compare search results from Google vs DuckDuckGo and others. Bing comes in the middle in my anecdotal experiences)

Apart from Google and Microsoft, companies have not been able to create a robust search index due to the complexity, resource consumption etc. Brave has finally taken the job head on. As a result, we might be see DuckDuckGo and others starting to use some of Brave Search.

this is good news, I also use Brave. I wanted to try other crypto browsers, but for now I have only used Brave. I get very few BAT per month, about 1.5 BAT per month, but for now I am satisfied

It is not that different at my end. With more advertisers joining and prices going up, earnings should eventually get better.

Rewards are already there when using Brave Browser. There is still possibility to implement keyword based ads where you earn for clicking. Brave would not want to have too many ads IMHO.

I’m a big fan of Brave, it’s become my default browser and the BAT I’ve earned over time are being held for the long haul. Hopefully the dev team continues to develop and upgrade, and most importantly decentralize more, then it will be as important to us as all other decentralized tools out there

I'm keeping my BAT safe. I'm thinking about eventually donating to some of the causes/projects I believe in after the prices go up and BAT become more widely accepted.
