Microsoft looks to power Windows through AI by launching Copilot+ PC!

I think it is hard not to imagine that artificial intelligence covers everything. The latest technologies will start to include it, and if we talk about the most popular operating system of recent times, Windows, it is beginning to adapt its inclusion.

Obviously, we are talking about Windows 11, an operating system that has managed to improve substantially, although for many it has not been a better option, choosing to stay in a previous version. However, when it comes to evolution, it is undeniable that we should take the next step, and for that reason, today we will talk about one of the features that has attracted the most attention; Recall, a generative function powered by artificial intelligence.

Microsoft aims to adapt AI in Windows 11 and has indeed held a conference where Copilot+ PC is introduced. These are machines with Windows that allow for different functions providing a unique experience. As mentioned before, one of them is Recall, which enables to find files, applications, or content that have been viewed in the past. This may sound very impressive, and it truly is, as one can almost certainly find a chat where a certain topic was discussed using natural language, just as we have been doing with prompts from other intelligences.

There will also be a timeline where you can visualize almost full screen what you have done previously, a few weeks ago or perhaps months ago.

However, it seems that it is clear upfront that no information will be collected, meaning this function will not be used to train the AI nor will any data be uploaded to the cloud. Everything will happen at a local level, remaining private and only functioning on the device. An important aspect is that you will be able to adjust the snapshots that are being taken, being able to delete them, pause them, or delete a specific time range.

Another one of the features that comes in Copilot+ PC is the ability to edit images with the potential of AI. On the scene appears a feature called Super Resolution that allows the restoration of old photos by restoring them. On the other hand, Cocreator will serve as an image generator, but will also help you change the style of an image by writing some words.

Real-time translations seem to be very important these days. That's why Live Captions introduces this translation function, making an audio entering the PC locally or perhaps one coming from YouTube have its translation in nearly 40 languages. In parallel to this, Microsoft Edge will allow live translation of videos from sites like YouTube, LinkedIn, Coursera, Bloomberg, and others. As a feature that will be available in the future, it will translate content through dubbing and subtitles. Translation from Spanish to English and vice versa will be available.

Recall and Super Resolution capabilities are enhanced by Windows Copilot Runtime, which contains a collection of 40 generative AI models that can operate locally, expanding the system's possibilities alongside generative applications that will be included later on. In this case, not only native applications would come into play, but third-party applications would also be allowed.

AI APIs and development tools will also be available for developers to start working with by next month.

The first units of Copilot+ PC will be priced at $999 and will include Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and Plus chips. Obviously, we are talking about laptops that will offer up to 20 hours of battery life.

If there is something hopeful about this upcoming move by Microsoft, it is that different companies such as Asus, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung among others, will be willing to join this technological revolution in collaboration with the makers of well-known chip brands in the field like Intel and AMD.

Regarding technology for developers, there is a Snapdragon Dev Kit development kit priced at $899.99, which includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip with a very interesting 32GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, supports Wi-Fi 7 and BlueTooth 5.4. It is also important to mention that it offers USB-C ports which are very relevant in current times, as well as HDMI ports that allow for 4K on up to 3 monitors simultaneously.

We will have to wait for this technology to reach the global market. Could this be a true technological revolution or perhaps just another application of the potential of artificial intelligence? For now, I will only be looking forward to being surprised by the future.

big tech companies are not ready to play ignorance about what the future holds for AI. Tech is reshaping a lot of industry, it a good thing that Microsoft are seeing the need.

Microsoft has undoubtedly taken the initiative to be the one to harness the potential of AI. Other companies are still hesitant, but in truth, we can already see that this will be part of the future (and the present).

I feel AI and Microsoft merging together is a good idea. This will have positive effect and make work easier to do. 👍

But based on educational terms like Assignment and school project, they won’t be taken seriously through engagement instead Students or other individual will depend on AI.

I also feel This Will also affect the occupation of creative content writers whereby all creative content will be generated by AI.

Research will be limited and everyone will mostly depend on AI to get their task and assignment done.

The Price is also on a high side some people, if the price could be persuaded lower.

So I will conclude with saying is it really necessary merging them, or will there be a limitation to its use.
