Skiff is a free and open source software that implements the novel idea of decentralized Web applications with interaction with the Web3. As we will detail in this post, it allows to have an excellent application for email with exceptional functionalities, a note board that can be shared collaboratively and distributed storage with the fantastic IPFS technology (Interplanetary File System), all this under a high security system for information to be encrypted from end to end.

Tal y como detallaremos en este post permite tener una excelente aplicación para correo electrónico con funcionalidades exepcionales, un tablero de notas que se pueden compartir colaborativamente y almacenamiento distribuido con la fantástica tecnología IPFS (Sistema de Archivo Interplanetario), todo esto bajo un sistema de alta seguridad para la información al estar encriptado de extremo a extremo.

Whenever I find a free and open source software tool, I check it in depth, looking for its operating principles, security standards and others related to my work in the management of IT services. From Skiff I have learned a lot about the use of a true emerging technology, IPFS, joined to everything else of what today is the Web3 and blockchains. Below I detail it.

Siempre que encuentro una herramienta de software libre y código abierto la reviso en profundidad, buscando sus principios de funcionamiento, sus estándares de seguridad y otros relacionados con mi trabajo en el manejo de servicios IT. De Skiff he aprendido mucho sobre el uso de una verdadera tecnología emergente, IPFS, unido a todo lo demás de lo que hoy es la Web3 y las cadenas de bloques. A continuación le detallo.

One of the most transcendent problems of all mail systems is that the mail server stores all the data, handles the passwords and its administrators can access your private information and filter to third parties under a legal demand (or without any legality). When you create an account, a pair of private and public keys is generated, of the private one an encrypted copy is created with your access password and another encrypted copy with the private key of the Web3 access application such as Metamask. Cuando usted se crea una cuenta se genera un par de clave privada y pública, de la privada se crea una copia encriptada con su contraseña de acceso y otra copia encriptada con la llave privada de la aplicación Web3 de acceso como Metamask. One of the features that have caught me the most is the possibility of adding all the aliases that come before me, for example my default email address is [email protected] and I have also put all the aliases that seemed prudent to me. This ingenious functionality allows me to customize from which alias I write and to which alias I want the senders to write to me, this is great for Community Managers or for those who want to have several accounts registered from Ecency, but all in the same place: Skiff.

In the debate on the characteristics of decentralized Web applications #Web5 Jack Dorsey himself mentioned the need to have a global, distributed and immeasurable storage system, one of the most promising proposals with these characteristics is IPFS (Interplanetary File System), as a succession to what was once Torrens.
