Today, it is more believable that the emergence of AI is inevitable.
True AI will never be here as that would require an awareness/consciousness that is not inherent in lines of code. But the algorithms could be so sophisticated that we might confuse it to have an awareness. At that point this differentiation might become irrelevant, but I think it's still important to highlight it. That being said, I think this "fake sophisticated AI" could be here in a decade or so.

You are right things are moving fast in this space and there will be very sophisticated ones in near future. When AI starts writing its own code and modifying itself that's when things will get even more interesting.
