Just burned 6.5 weeks of STEM token inflation for STEMGeeks

One of the things I didn't like doing when I created STEMGeeks was assigning 2.5M STEM tokens to a sell wall. I had three options, assign the 2.5M to the team, assign it to something that would have little impact on the tokenomics, or have a really high inflation rate.

I wanted to keep the inflation rate of STEM low (currently 6.8% and ~6% in less than a year), to do this, I had to allocate 10M tokens initially to reach the numbers I was looking for (inflation, and daily token supply).

I have been burning off these tokens at around 10% at a time. This time, I burned 80,000 STEM which represents about 10% of the remaining tokens.

As you can see above, STEM has a very low supply with a large portion (typically 20-30%+ of the weekly inflation) is burned on a regular basis. Of the liquid STEM, over 80% is staked.

These are some amazing numbers, and represents a very healthy token. The biggest hurdle holding back STEM is getting more STEM authors publishing quality content. Most are focused on Finance related topics to take advantage of Leo's amazing price.

Not all finance posts are remotely related to STEM, so the posts either get muted (post only) or downvoted.

I'm trying to reduce the amount of downvoting needed, and ultimately I would like to completely burn @nostem4u account that has 1M STEM. Which some recent changes, I should be able to do this, I just haven't yet.

I've bought a few of these tokens. How and where do I use them?

You can power them up on STEMGeeks.net to vote on posts similar to how you do on Hive. You can also use Hive-Engine to power them up, or you can hold them for speculation.

Thanks for explaining! Do staked STEM tokens count when I upvote a science post on other platforms?

You can upvote from any front end you like, if the account voting has STEM staked, it will reward STEM tokens to the author.

hmm in the following days i am gonna write stem related post. In my opinion, one of the reasons that we don't get many people aside leo price, is the difficulty to write a stem post, or at least that's what many think.

For instance when i am writing any of my posts i may spend 2-3 hours in doing so, i find relevant posts, i read them and try to understand the essence and they i try to explain it in simple words :P but that's just me although i think many believe that this is the way :p (you see what i did there)

I think if someone does an unboxing of a tech product or something similar, it is still under the stem tag and that's quite easy to make, so people need to understand this!

Also, i think many want "big fat" rewards from the ocd or any other source. Remember what was happening in steemstem? we had tons of posts and activity but at the same time, the quality ones could earn some pretty good rewards! I get that stem token is that reward by itself but i think the majority doesn't

Also somehow we need to attract new members that like science-related posts or are actually scientists by themselves and improve a little bit the interface.

All of the above all ideas and assumptions i don't know if there is any ground to what i am saying but i know that this community has so much potential

STEM post don't need to be complicated, they can be teaching a new technology, talking about a favorite gadget, talking about programming idioms, talking about scientific issues and discoveries.

Trending STEM posts are making $2.50-$5+ in STEM rewards alone, that's not even counting Hive rewards. That's a decent amount, especially considering 80%+ of Hive users don't make that much.

Curation rewards for curating are higher than Leo by at least 2-4x.

2-3 hours isn't really the reality . I say this because I write some on STEMGeeks .

People are just afraid to write because they think they need to be professor or a nerd in the subject which isn't true.

I am thinking of starting a challenge like which 5 apps do you use the most in your smartphone?which is related to technology and Which hopefully makes people aware that STEMGeeks is for everyone.

yes that's what i said! It takes 2-3 hours for me given the nature of my posts which is fine cause i like doing that. Not that it should take 2-3 hours to everyone else.At the same time, people think that they need to spend that much time also!

That's why i also say about new ways and posts to attract users and show them how easy it is! You idea was quite good, if you make a post/contest like that tag me!
