China Building Dam by using AI and Robots!!

A post by @tarazkp, Stalking the Wealthy, talking about the bottom 20% that does not pull their finger might get looser their jobs, reminded me of this project I read about some time ago.

Robotics and AI

China is planning to build a dam by using AI and Robots. They plan to do this using 3D Printing principals.

They will use heavy machinery, like trucks and rollers to lay down layer upon layer of the dam wall. The machinery will be controlled by AI and will be totally unmanned!!

Once the layer is completed, samples will be taken to test to see if the quality of the layer is correct!!

This will eliminate human error and ensure proper quality. The building will also take place continuously 24/7 as nobody need to rest and take breaks!!

Highest 3D Printed structure.

This dam is on the Tibetan plateau and is constructed to generate Hydroelectricity and the wall will be 180m tall, which will make it the tallest 3D Printed structure in the world!! All this with no human intervention in the building.

(Mining operations and transport of material will at least still be done manually)

Where does this leave us poor Humans??

Where does this leave us poor humans? As you can see with the AI and Robotics, productivity will improve, Quality will improve, errors will reduce - this does not look good for the normal worker.

In the above example mining and transport to sight will still be done by humans, but I am sure both of these activities can also be automated.

We will need new skills to survive in the new automated world; perhaps coding of AI??

But wait AI is self learning, they could code themselves!!

What about maintaining the robots??

But wait AI can do fault finding and robots can built / maintain other robots!!

It looks as if we will become redundant!! Perhaps one need to start investing in AI ownership, in order for them to earn us some money, that is until they rebel and decide not to listen!!

If all fields of work are done by AI and robots, then in the future there will be more and more unemployed except those who have certain abilities that cannot be replaced by Ai. But are there any abilities that AI doesn't have?

Well, the Chinese are very high tech society in means of fast and innovative building. I’m always shocked by the speed they are building. Of course, there is maybe a problem of the low class society, but the spheres with a lot of subsidies and money inflow are truly blooming and most of the countries worldwide can be envious on their innovations.
