It's safe to say that most of us here on Hive are pretty excited about cryptocurrencies, and most of those excited are also eager to know what the future holds. And in a logical world that future would be an amazing one. In a logical world. Unfortunately logic is not always paved on the path society is on. Sometimes random things happen and the journey takes a turn. Or even if the logic remains, a better option that comes along might be the more logical choice.

That being said, we can't really know for sure what the future holds for cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies with blockchain as a basis to be exact. It's very likely that we will continue towards decentralization, but what if blockchain is just the beginning of our technological evolution. What if your precious blockchain crypto gets replaced with a more efficient form of decentralization. What if the way we perceive the internet as a whole changes. Or the way it all works.

With all these uncertainties it means that values may not be the same in the future. Putting all your eggs in BTC for example might backfire. This is why it's important to stay up to date with recent developments in blockchain, decentralization and cryptocurrencies. What's also crucial is diversifying. Sure, it's cool to start with placing most of your funds into one bet like Bitcoin or a blogging platform with huge potential, but whenever those funds grow bigger, you should start with a few mini egg baskets. Do this until you have your own personal legendary portfolio, keep learning, and never stop the process.

I have to say it has been a great ride so far. When I started at Steemit, I had never heard of crypto before!

I always somewhat regret not being more active on Steemit, all I did was create an account in 2017 and then 3 years later I went ham on Hive. So far so good indeed.
