Economies are Defined by Borders, and then There's Cryptocurrencies

Money is a weird concept. And so is the whole surrounding it all. You know, that thing we call the economy. It directly and indirectly influences how most of us live our lives. Unless you live in one of those cashless societies that is. But I doubt that. From the moment we are born, we grasp the importance of finances, why we should and or would need money, and what we could do to acquire it.

You go to school, you learn, you graduate, you work, and then you take your place in society. At least, that's the conventional way of doing things. The economy differs depending on different factors. Location is an important one.

Different countries have different ways of doing things. And when it comes to crossing borders they all have exchange rates between them, deeming one more or less powerful than the other. This is only if you cross borders. A hypothetical country that doesn't rely on imports whatsoever or any other external influence, which also produces everything locally, should have no need to compare to others outside when it comes to buying power locally. But of course, this is not the case in realistic situations. And so the comparisons play a big role.

This means that the difference in economies around the world is not parallel or linear in comparison, but rather exponential. What does that mean? Well, it says to us that one person in one part of the world can earn a livable monthly wage and can have the best of times locally, while this same wage is potentially less than 5% of the wage of a person in another part of the world. Both of these people earn livable wages and can do more than survive within their own bubble. But once they cross each others borders temporarily, this changes. One will be very well off, while the other will certainly be doomed.

This is a weird concept in itself, when I write it out like this. But that doesn't make it less true. Nowadays we have things like cryptocurrencies that tend to be the gray area in between, were everyone can earn the same, without notice of borders or crossings of them. As we've seen on Hive, all that matters is content, not country, not geographical location, not anything else, but content and pure creativity and skill.

We may be at the beginning of the borderless revolution. Or not. But things will definitely changes, the more technologies like blockchain and AI start advancing even further. Will you be aware of it when that's happening?
