There are plenty of caveats in this as well as risks and potentials unmentioned and people might want to fill in some gaps

One teensy weensy risk..

You have no control over your stake, only the illusion of control.

It can be frozen out without your consent at a moments notice. (see the recent steem/hive events for proof of that happening).
I'd call that a bit of a tad of 'downside' to investing into something.

You give up any claim on your own property..MMmmmmm...
