Can't Wait to Hop in VR and Go To... A Fast Food Restaurant

frens, this shit is getting ridiculous. I love NFTs and the whole "metaverse" concept but come on. I can see the demand for virtual real estate and even virtual fashion. Do we really need virtual fast food though?

Fast Food in the Metaverse

It honestly comes as no surprise that major corporations want to get their piece of this new digital economy. We've seen companies like adidas, Nike, and even Gucci shifting some of their focus on building their brand in virtual worlds like The Sandbox. A day or so ago, I got a notification from one of the many new sources I subscribe to that McDonald's filed some NFT and metaverse related patents. Today, I came across this article that even mentions Chipotle setting up a restaurant in Roblox last year. That's where I found the graphic above then I slapped some good old NFTs on it. One is @readthisplease's Hive Punk and one is one of my Chummys that are on the WAX blockchain. I can't help but make fun of this shit. Like seriously... The first thing that comes to my mind is "boy I can't wait to hop in my NFT lambo and hit the McDonald's drive thru in VR, then wait for my food to get delivered."

Hell, even Panera Bread filed some patents related to metaverse and NFTs. I guess this concept is just way to big brain for me. I must have the smoothest of brains to not understand why this sort of thing would be appealing to anyone. I've thoroughly enjoyed the recent explosion of interest in virtual goods and services. It warms my heart to know that my obsession with NFTs isn't just me being a nerd. There's real use for this kind of technology outside of selling stupid monkey JPEGs. I just don't think that buying a virtual McDouble is it. Limited NFT Happy Meals??? Wouldn't want your avatar to go hungry and starve or anything. I feel like I'm losing brain cells pondering this topic. Why would someone choose to go to a fast food chain in VR over just pulling up the restaurant's mobile app and placing their delivery order? Am I missing something?

Thanks for reading! Much love.

You are not alone...

When I saw the Walmart VR Metaverse preview I instantly turned to a few friends, showed them the video, and asked "would you rather do this, or order what you need through an app on your phone?". Although it was a sample of only 3 people, 100% of them said that apps are king and this idea is complete bs. I mean it's a lot faster to do it on your phone and I'm sure no one has free time to spend in a virtual convenience store for no specific reason.

Maybe they think we enjoy standing in lines and packing our own shit at the counter. Maybe that is where all these dumb ideas come from. They are either completely disconnected from reality or we don't have the brainpower to process this shit.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one that was like... What. Although I'm sure it's thrilling to stand in line in VR, I'm gunna give it a hard pass. I hate walmart as it is.
