I would not be surprised to hear the big companies building AIs to manipulate our views. In a way, they are already doing so because most people don't read past the headlines of a news article. I don't think it will surpass a normal human but I do think it might be hard to tell them apart from a normal human.

Yes, if there is money to be made, they will whatever it takes. I wonder if the Turing test would actually work in differentiating the machines from humans.
