It's been a hectic week once again on discussions.app, the team has been running around and talking to different groups behind the scenes to get ready for their listing (Full details tomorrow).😀

As you might imagine, a lot of the team attention right now is being pulled into the crypto-blackhole and taking up most of their time.

That said, they haven't forgotten about you, the content creators! The propagators of alpacas pics, cooking tutorials, tshirt enthusiasts and japaneses plebs.🙌

Today they're rolling out a feature designed specifically for you, and it's called TimeLocked Content. ⏰

TimeLocked Content allows creators to lock their post behind a Time-lock, which readers can decide either to wait it out or pay the amount set by the creator to gain early access.⏳

This is Discussions way of addressing the tension that some of you might've experienced:

For content creators, it's very awkward to openly ask for tips, and for readers, we don't really know what is the right amount is to tip.

This solves that issue by letting content creators set-up, what is, essentially, a 'recommended tip'. And as readers we can feel good about paying that fee, getting some early access to the content, and supporting our favorite creator.🌟

The team thinks it's important to stress that this is not meant to replace traditional services like Patreon, at least not yet.😉

Discussions.app want to strike a balance between keeping Discussions an open and public forum, and a place where content creators can monetize their work.🤑

They are brainstorming other solutions to allow content creators to monetize their work over longer periods of time. But they think this is a good first step, and the feedback they get from this feature from both content creators and readers will help inform them on the direction they take.
