Someone Stole $12,000,000 worth of BTC from the IRS

A guy in Ohio has been reported to have stolen millions in Bitcoin from the International Revenue Reserve and is now facing court action.
Reports say the man is pleading guilty to the charges that have been brought against him.
What the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has said is that 31-year-old Gary Harmon who lives in Cleveland, Ohio is set to do 40 years in prison after he stole BTC that was taken from his brother as confiscated assets.
In court, Gary Harmon pleaded guilty to the charges brought to him which were wire fraud (for the act of stealing itself) and obstruction of justice (given it was BTC taken in an investigation).
Gary tried to steal 712 BTC which is about $12 million right now. Gary’s brother had also pleaded guilty to laundering money in an incident in August of 2021.
Garry’s brother Larry Harmon in February of 2020 was first arrested for laundering money through Helix. Helix is a known dark website where people go to change their illegally gained money to a less traceable form.
When Larry was arrested his hard wallet was taken but there was no way to gain access to the content because of its hard-to-crack security encryption so it was kept by the IRS.
The DOJ explained that Garry was able to transfer the BTC to his hard wallet and tried to render it untraceable with coin mixers.
On Thursday Garry was taken to court for wire fraud and obstruction of justice where he pleaded guilty.
Really tough time for the rest of their family, that’s if they are so connected. Two sons in prison would hurt my parents badly…and for a steal and hiding it. I think 40 years is a lot of time to spend in prison if you ask me. But then again I am not here to interpret the law.
