Is it Right to Send Money to Ukraine?

At the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia war, I was of the opinion that the only right thing to do was to keep sending money over to Ukraine so they could have all the aid they needed to win the war, possibly bringing Russia to its knees. The war has been going on for a long time, but it was around this time last year that Russia invaded Ukrainian territory.

As the dyed-in-the-wool liberal I have always been, I was in full support of Ukraine because it was the right thing to do. However, in recent months, I am starting to wonder if I am on the right side of reason.

First of all, Ukraine is right in wanting to separate itself from Russia because of its history, or because it has been functioning as a separate country for some time. On the other hand, having the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as a neighbor would have been a national threat.

This war has been going on for so long, it's starting to feel like there are people who are benefiting from it. There are now actual names of people who are benefiting from the war.

I saw a video where conservative online media presenter Candace Owens was explaining that those benefiting from the war are not as hidden as they seem. For example, Olena Zelenska, the first lady of Ukraine, was said to have been spotted spending $40,000 in France while the war rages on and kills thousands. I didn't believe it, and I still don't to some extent, because it doesn't make sense that a human being could be that shallow.

The recent news about Ukrainian officials has left me stunned. There are claims that officials are resigning because they have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, stealing relief funds.

The United States has made moves to monitor where the money is going, following news of the scandal. However, the US State Department has maintained that they "do not know if the money was actually being stolen." Meanwhile, on Tuesday, many Ukrainian officials lost their jobs over this issue.

All this is coming out at a time when Ukraine has been in need of help and has actively pleaded with different governments for aid.

Similar to what we have in Nigeria, where politicians own the power industry by importing generators rather than investing in the power sector, the deputy infrastructure minister was noted to have taken a bribe of 367,000 euros to buy overpriced generators. There have been power outages in the country due to Russian strikes.

So far, I think the mass resignations are a good example of how governments should behave in the face of corruption. I also think that "bad situations like war and scarcity bring out the worst in people." I hope they can figure out how to get past this.

This war has gone on for so long, and I hope they can come to a peaceful resolution soon enough. I would like to know your thoughts in the comment section below.

The way I see it, there's no right or wrong in war, just reality and events. Ukraine receive funding and they use it to defend themselves.

That would be awesome if people were not interested in stealing the money. I think there is more of that going on right now and that's sad. It's like giving a homeless person money and the person uses it to buy crack.

To be fair to the homeless person, dying of crack overdose is better than being homeless and poor
