Integrating a Chatbot into Google's Search Engine

What would AI look like on a search engine? It's crazy, in my opinion. I'm super excited about Google's plans to add a chatbot similar to ChatGPT to their search engine. What would that look like? Nobody knows for now, but we'll definitely see what the future holds. I think the search options will be more expressive or include a written text explanation, similar to what ChatGPT offers.

According to CNBC, Google plans to make a new product that includes a chatbot and wants to integrate it into their search engine. Their parent company, Alphabet, is building this product in response to ChatGPT.

Google has been working on a chatbot called Apprentice Bard and Google employees have been using it in a similar way to ChatGPT. A unit of Alphabet has been working on a new design that allows users to ask questions and get answers.

Google employees have gathered to share their thoughts that if they entered the market that ChatGPT currently dominates, they have what it takes to overtake it. Imagine having access to all the data on the internet through conversations?

ChatGPT, with all the noise surrounding it, does not have up-to-date data on many topics. For example, if you ask it about recent political news, it will tell you that it doesn't know much about it and that it's just an AI, with excuses starting to pop up. This would be different from what Google is trying to create.

The only issue with having access to all the information on the internet is the possibility of non-factual information being available to people. Nobody wants to know what a random blogger has to say about medical issues.

Google's AI chief has expressed a similar concern as their reputation would be at stake if they went ahead and gave false information. The AI chief and the CEO, however, have said that they want to create a bot that is similar to ChatGPT.

There were similar announcements about ChatGPT's integration into Binge search engine, which Google responded to with shock and fear. Now they are all for it.

I'm all for any integration that works, provides the best utility, and can propagate education faster. That's what the world needs, and it's the only thing that can level the playing field.

These are my thoughts. I want to know yours. Do you think this is a good idea? Will Google go through with it? Are there other things to be afraid of besides Google's reputation?

My point is always, what's in it for them? We're always going to pay a price one way or another for these integrations. These things will not be free forever and originally I'm wary of the overdependence. AI on a search engine, wouldn't that be data selling at the highest level?

For things like this, we will just have to wait and see. Google provided their search engine without AI and sold adverts and user data. I hope they don't plan on doing the same but at this point, they work independently of law.
