Blurt Shows Tragedy of Fees! Mana Is Future of Web 3 Social Media

I've been using Blurt since fork. It's decentralized & experimental. Hive is an improvement over Steem. Blurt is like a remix.

  • No stablecoin
  • No downvotes
  • Yes fees!

You can like or dislike these. But don't deny value of experiments. Everyone's got a theory. Before UST-LUNA blew up there were lots of theories there too! I was down with experiment Blurt was doing.

I was posting my Hive posts except:

  • Leo threads
  • Comments

I was even interacting on Blurt with comments, votes, follows. But last few days have not seen my content get posted on Blurt.

Never got any crypto out of Blurt. I kept my airdrop. I keep post rewards. Now I don't have enough to publish on a post. I need to buy some Blurt or power down. Neither is fun.

It's nice to have Blurt on exchanges. But what if I'm not on Probit? What if I don't like CeFi? When I joined Steem there was BlockTrades:

That's a 4 step process. What will you do on feeless Web 3? There's few options:

  • Wait! Do nothing!
  • Rent from others 😊
  • Buy some & power up!

Even if you try last option - there's easy swapping available in most cases!

I want Blurt to do good. It's trying to do good stuff. It's a lot better place than Web 2. It's even better than Mastodon! But users face too many hassles. I'm actually OK going through this. But what about normies? How will they even navigate this!

There Will Always Be A Learning Curve For Innovation

But we can make that curve smoother - right? Blurt share lots of code with Hive. Hive is open source. There's been tons of modifications to Hive in HF26. Blurt devs can take a look and adopt few. Fight is between Web 2 vs web 3. No need to have rivalry between 2 crypto that's trying to do similar things in different ways!

You can also ask other creators to send you some BLURT so you can post. It is not expensive at this point and reward on post is usually bigger than the expense of publishing.

Oh Blurt!! Too many hassle tends to limit the number of users willing to use the platform. Web 2.0 has made ease of use as the standard mode of operation on their platforms. I think they should try and keep up with that.

It's crazy how Hive's been live since 2016 - but NOBODY made a better chain! Even Dan Larimer himself failed with Voice.com WITH $150 MILLION to spend didn't pull it off. No joke. Source Hive is dirt cheap and full of opportunities! Loved some Q&A from Splinterfest. So many cool things are getting built !LUV !CTP
